Same here. Snow/sleet on the roofs and street. 19°F. Good luck driving on that! Fortunately, I made a massive batch of Fiesta soup last night. I have beer battered shrimp and a gas stove. Wine and vanilla crown royal. We're set...I better make syllabi for the semester classes and work on some grants...
Spaceflight research, muscular dystrophy, aging research.
I've been a weather, space enthusiast since a kid. The moon landing, Skylab, total solar eclipse experience, winter storms in Illinois, North Carolina are impactful childhood memories. I enjoy the puzzles of complex systems - degrees in biomedical engineering, physiology.
20°F and no chance of reaching that 32°F predicted high.
In other news, the pattern is looking WET starting next week.

Nice! My undergrad majors at TTech were History and English. I have thought about teaching part-time at some point.tireman4 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 11:58 amNice. Its been pretty wet lately to me(no flooding but still wet), I guess it depends on your location.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 12:03 pm Pattern looking wet? Ill believe it when i see it, models have burned us way too many times….
Sleeting in the Woodlands.
Very small snowflakes here that blow with the wind, it's still pretty though.

Ice all over my pumps at work. Boss said it would get up to 36 by 12...ugh no!.. so he turned the water on to the building. Now every thing is freezing and I'm racing to blow it all back out...ugh!!
Snow starting to pick up here as a band moves in along I-59. My mom in Wharton said it's snowing there also.
Hou NWS forecast from just 24 hours ago missed by 8 degrees (too high) in Sugar Land.
Ouch. Good luck!brazoriatx wrote: ↑Mon Jan 15, 2024 12:26 pm Ice all over my pumps at work. Boss said it would get up to 36 by 12...ugh no!.. so he turned the water on to the building. Now every thing is freezing and I'm racing to blow it all back out...ugh!!

Lotsa sleet with some flakes mixed in in Fairfield as well as Katy. We had a very heavy 5 minute band of sleet come through Katy about 20 minutes ago. My Ambient weather station got up to 25 earlier around 8am and has dropped back to 24 or so. I don't think its gonna get to the predicted 34 unless the sun comes out.
