JDsGN wrote: Sat Dec 09, 2023 10:27 pm What happened to the crazy winds? They were a little brisk earlier at 5-10 but I thought there were going to be 30-50 mph winds after the front blew through?
They were up here in CLL.

No surprise, but night tornadoes in Mississippi.

Prayers for our friends over in Tennessee. They got smacked pretty hard with tornadoes today.

Looks like HGX radar is back up and running. They must have just completed the work today because I swear it was down this morning.

Feels great outside. Windows open to air things out and get the humidity out of the house before it gets cold tonight.

I prefer a lil humidity in my house. Breathing in too much dry air will get me sick.

Today’s weather is perfect for working outside. I’m going to string some new fence.

I'm liking the trends also, looks like they're showing a potent upper level low. That gets trapped underneath the ridge to our north. Then diving SE through the state around the 15th. Triggering a large MCS or thunderstorm complex. Cautiously optimistic as we've been burned too many times lately...

Sambucol nope, and their is a good chance we might have to wait another month before we even see any significant cold again, pattern is really ugly though christmas, nothing but mild pacific air flooding the US, definitely not a winter pattern at all

Till we get some blocking over Alaska, you can forget about any cold coming down here.

Loving this dry air.

I'm more confident in rain next Friday than the system that busted here and became severe and tornadic in MS.

jasons2k wrote: Fri Dec 08, 2023 12:43 pm I think it’s still too early to pin down Monday’s freeze line. It could be further south than currently forecast, hence Jeff’s comments about monitoring the trends over the next couple of days. FWIW I’m preparing for the worst and have mentally prepared that Sunday evening I’ll be bundling-up and moving things into the garage. I’m currently forecast at 34 and that’s too close to comfort knowing how many times they drop the lows at the last minute, sometimes even after the 4pm package goes out. I’d prefer not to be unprepared for an 11pm freeze warning again.
You know, I was sorta joking but not really. And sure enough the NWS waits until 11:05pm to issue the freeze warning. Like is this a sick joke or something? Almost midnight?!? For real?? What use is that?

I’m glad I was prepared but seriously? Sorry but this is inexcusable. If I saw it coming they should have too. Thank god this isn’t NWS Ruskin. Good grief!

I’m also 5 miles south of Weimar by the Whistling Duck Winery.

Even more rural than Weimar proper.
