Man, I’m glad you got something. Nothing here. It rained some at Rayford & 45 but that’s the closest it got to the house.

Bush airport didn't reach 100 degrees today!
Just the ending of that streak alone today is enough of a win for me. I'm not even going to get into how happy I was to see such stormy activty across the area, as well as the sunshower that I experienced at home.

Glad it cooled down a little in SE Texas. Here in Starkville, we reached about 97 today. Tomorrow we are expecting a high around 100 and then it should be around 100 for the next several days. It looks like it may finally start to cool down starting next Monday here though. Maybe highs closer to 90 instead of 100 which would be so much better.

Team #NeverSummer
From there towards the N and NW side of San Antonio, they got hammered!
Btw, one of my fav restaurants is a placed called Burnt Bean in Seguin. If you haven’t been then you definitely need to go!

I couldnt even get a passing cloud up here in CS
I dont know what texas did to hurt mother natures feelings, we should not be getting tortured this much

At least, they the got rain. They needed as they are in a severe drought.
My mother in law in Monahans (near New Mexico) is about to get more rain from this storm than we did. Crazy.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
602 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2023
...New AVIATION...
.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Thursday Night)
Issued at 445 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2023
After a slightly cooler Tuesday, at least for locations south of I-
10, hotter and drier conditions will return. A strong mid to upper
lvl ridge parked across the central CONUS will slowly move southwest
today and Thursday. At the surface, winds will transition to the
east-southeast, increasing the potential for higher low-level
moisture/dewpoint. So the formula continues to be the same: high
humidity and hot conditions will once again lead to dangerous heat
today. Highs at or exceeding 100 degF can be expected inland, and
from the mid to upper 90s along the coast. Excessive Heat Warnings
and Advisories remain in effect today as dangerous hot temperatures
and peak heat indices around 112 degF are likely.
Thursday looks to be even hotter than today with the center of the
sfc high just north of our forecast area. As the day progresses,
this high will continue to expand over northeastern TX/Arklatex
region, transitioning winds to the south in the afternoon and hence
bringing more moisture. In addition, 850 mb temperatures show values
increasing into the 26 to 28 degC range for most of the region, with
widespread high temperatures expected in the triple-digits for most
inland locations (from 103 to 107 degF). Excessive Heat Warnings and
Advisories will likely be needed.
In terms of precipitation, chances remain low given strong
subsidence. However, ridging aloft will allow the upper levels to
become more northwesterly, resulting in a few weak shortwaves. This
forcing along with the seabreeze interaction may result in isolated
showers/storms during the peak of daytime heating.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through Tuesday)
Issued at 445 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2023
With the mid/upper ridge centered over the Southern Plains by the end
of the week, we`re not going to see any relief from well-above normal
daytime high temperatures (100+) through the weekend. And as this has
been the pattern for much of this summer, heat advisories or warnings
will likely be needed or extended into this timeframe. But, given the
progged location of this ridge aloft, rain chances may be possible as
a weak easterly wave (or two) approaches from the northern Gulf along
with some deeper moisture (PWs ~2") and the abundant daytime
heating.
By the start of next week, global models are indicating that the mid/
upper ridge will be shifting to the west and weakening. This could be
enough of a change to allow for the approach of a weak backdoor front
late Tues and keep some lowish POPs in place across SE TX. 41

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAF Issuance)
Issued at 537 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2023
No major aviation concerns during the period. Hot and dry weather
continues today with light east to southeast winds. Winds will
strengthen up to 10 knots in the afternoon, before becoming light
and variable tonight. An isolated shower or two will be possible
this afternoon, but did not mention in TAFs due to low confidence
in occurrence. A window of MVFR conditions due to low-lying fog
will be possible overnight. Overall, VFR conditions are expected
through most of the period.

.MARINE...
Issued at 445 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2023
With the gradient continuing to weaken, winds and seas will also con-
tinue to subside this morning. Generally light to moderate east winds
will prevail today...becoming more southeasterly tonight. Light winds
should persist through the rest of the week with a landbreeze and sea
breeze circulation developing on a daily basis. Seas will decrease to
2-4ft by tomorrow and remain low through the weekend. 41
&&
.FIRE WEATHER...
Issued at 445 AM CDT Wed Aug 23 2023
Hotter conditions, low afternoon relative humidity and persistent
dry fuels and vegetation will allow for another day of elevated to
critical fire weather conditions. Afternoon RH will generally dip
into the 25 to 35 percent range, particularly for areas north of I-
10. Winds should remain on the light side; however, dry fuels/little
to no precipitation yesterday and low RH could potentially continue
critical fire danger over the Piney Woods and the Brazos Valley
area. Therefore, a Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon through
late this evening. Remember, avoid any activities that could lead to
fire starts. Burn bans remain in effect across the entire SE TX.

Welp……back to the blast furnace. The slight reprieve was great while it lasted.
Then forget about her: if she's gonna cause this much misery, then we'll have to look into ways of replacing her.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 22, 2023 9:22 pm I dont know what texas did to hurt mother natures feelings, we should not be getting tortured this much
How? Ray Kurzweil might have the right idea...
That said, models continue to want to show some disturbances creating convection admist this return of heat. As early as later today over in Louisiana, before making it here tomorrow.
The humidity out there today is next level from that rain we had yesterday. Feels like one of the most humid days of the whole summer out there. Just terrible.
I see an actual 99°F in our NOAA forecast for next Tuesday.
The brutality continues until then, although there is a slight chance of rain every day and there are a few clouds out. We have to be nearly 50 days in a row of 100°F+
