July 2023
Another benefit of lower heights/lesser ridging (and more tropical rains): deeper blue skies. Combined with the greening landscape, it's giving tropical vibes.

Ensembles pretty much agree that the ridge building back in will be much weaker and more elongated , i think daily rain chances on the order of 20-30% the next few weeks look reasonable
Right - we have a nice breeze, green grass for now. We had a shower this am. 90°F. The haze is gone. It's more like a Florida afternoon (except for the rain at 2:30 pm part)...
I'd certainly take this for the rest of the summer.
However, it looks like typical July weather for the next two weeks. It's been a lot worse (last year, 2011, 2013).
Just 54 days until football season.

It's pretty universal agreement on the elongated, weaker ridge than June. Give we are north of the ridge center, winds aloft will be easterlies. Hopefully, that means some breeze, an occasional shower, less haze, and a taste of tropics. I think it keeps temps down to the high 90s in CLL, mid 90s in HOU. We'll see.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 3:26 pm Ensembles pretty much agree that the ridge building back in will be much weaker and more elongated , i think daily rain chances on the order of 20-30% the next few weeks look reasonable
On a global scale, June 2023 was the hottest month recorded by humans.
I will take a typical summer than a hot summer.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 3:26 pm Ensembles pretty much agree that the ridge building back in will be much weaker and more elongated , i think daily rain chances on the order of 20-30% the next few weeks look reasonable

Models are hinting at a rare july cold front around the 16/17th, fingers crossed

We drove out to Crosby for a baseball game that got delayed as soon as we walked into the complex. They need the rain as there are huge cracks in the ground.

Looks like the cells right behind the one that missed me south are going to now pass me north. Good grief.
Nice seabreeze south of I-10.
We have some clouds. Less of a breeze than yesterday.
Really needed 1.70 inches or 2.70 inches instead of 0.70 inches, but beggars can't be choosers.
July 17-19 is probably our next best chance of rain...although there's a slight chance daily as the elongated ridge lurks just south of us.

I like that GFS run, the death ridge splits into two, one off the west US coast and the other over the eastern US, texas stays in an area of general weakness between the two ridges, at least allowing for daily thunderstorm chances
Looking at the progs, models, ensembles this afternoon.

DoctorMu 48 days until we go 8-4 again lol

I’ll be at a few of yalls games this year. Yalls running back Rueben Owens is from my high school and I saw almost all of his high school games so I wanna watch him in college too. But I really don’t expect much from A&M as long as Dumbo remains the head coach there. Definitely need to buyout that contract.

We have a massive tailgate on West campus. Let me know when and come stop by for good food and drink.

One more 5-7 season would do that.Cpv17 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 9:13 pmI’ll be at a few of yalls games this year. TAMU's best coach is leading Duke. Mike Elko wasn't that far from a 10 win season last year.
If by some miracle Clemson is asleep enough (another slow start) to let the Blue Devils take the opener in Durham, then why not run the table in a mediocre ACC? We're not just a basketball school any more.
