That pattern is what will be possibly delivering our White Christmas here across the Smokies and the Carolinas

I’m late to the party. Way late.
Boss told me Montgomery is expected not to get out of freezing Christmas Eve maybe Christmas Day. He wants to get some heaters for his patio for the company. What I’m the world did I miss? Lol

The CPC has placed almost the entire state of Texas under a high risk for much below normal temps. The last time this happened was Feb 21. It’s going to get cold. Very cold. And the winds are supposed to be gusting 40-60mph. Imagine the wind chills.
I’m not sure I could control myself if we had a map even remotely close to this over Texas. To say I’m jealous is an understatement.srainhoutx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:22 pmThat pattern is what will be possibly delivering our White Christmas here across the Smokies and the Carolinas

It looks like work to me. Both of our Airbnb short term rental are booked beginning tomorrow until the New Year. The driveway at the house will need to be salted and shoveled so our Guests can travel back and forth from Cataloochee Ski Area 10 minutes away!Cpv17 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:41 pmI’m not sure I could control myself if we had a map even remotely close to this over Texas. I'd go camping outside if that was expected. Just a total giddy mess if that was coming.Cpv17 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:41 pmI’m not sure I could control myself if we had a map even remotely close to this over Texas. Man... that cold without any snow will suck. But at least it would be cold for Xmas instead of hot day.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:34 pmIf a 1043 crashed into Texas, with the snowpack to our north, we are easily seeing teens IMO

Probably the most fun I've had (recently) in snow was in Montana. We went to West Yellowstone to dog sled one day and we went a few miles, then when driving back up the Gallatin Range, it dumped. Wife and kid went to go get warm, and I went skiing in 1-2 inch per hour rates and -6 degrees.Cpv17 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:59 pmI wouldn’t be able to sleep I could tell you that much.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:51 pmI'd go camping outside if that was expected. Talk about carving up some trails and smiling the whole time.

I wish we could get Hi-res models in those regions.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:52 pm 18z ICON only goes out 120 hours but some -50 degree readings are showing up in NW Canada on this run…….

I'm actually surprised. He's usually bullish on model forecasting. A good weatherman looks at what is, not just what might be. As of now... you can't make a peanut butter sandwich without the peanut butter.brazoriatx wrote: ↑Thu Dec 15, 2022 1:50 pm 57 keeps saying there is no high and no cold in NW Canada as of now.
Well no shi* it's not suppose to be there till this weekend. Sometimes he sounds like a broken record with his comments

He's caving a little more every couple of days, but he's sticking to his process.
He's now saying hard freezes and highs in the 30s, but also said it could be 5-10 degrees colder. Well no joke... models don't handle Arctic cold well at all.
