Yeah its not looking too great for south of highway 105 folks, still think houston could get some ice/ sleet, but that more significant stuff will probably be from CS and north, I just do not see that moisture just drying up, im taking those mesocale models with a big grain of salt

Yes and there were several other frames with the white snow color right over the city of Houston, starting around 11 pm on Thursday.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 11:18 pm Latest update from Justin Stapleton that just came out a few minutes ago, this is why its down to nowcasting now lol

Looks like Austin is dropping below freezing now so freezing rain will increase in concern as we move through the day. For those across SE Texas it's going to likely be a race between the precipitation ending and temps getting below freezing, especially SE of the College Station into Brenham and Columbus line. It still looks like freezing rain will be the primary concern but could see some transition to sleet towards the end with maybe a couple of snow flakes mixed in.

NWS added possible freezing rain for Beaumont. Definitely wasn’t expecting that. Still not expecting anything really. Temps definitely dropped sharply in Beaumont. NWS says temp should be 55 right now and dropping to 50 during the day and 48 by 6pm. Well….temp is currently 43! We are already well below what they forecasted for the entire day. Have a feeling we will continue to see much colder temps then forecasted. Maybe why they added the freezing rain for us. Wow. Really wasn’t expecting anything. Goes to show with the freezing rain graphic and much lower temps than forecasted, how quick things can unexpectedly change with these cold core systems.
