I just wanted to thank everyone here for the days of notice we got with the last cold wave. I was able to plan ahead and get all my sheets and clothes pins ready.. I saved what I hoped to save, and lost what I expected to lose.

If you set your cell phone alarm, you never have to worry about missing alarm, unless your phone is on silent! Charge your phone all night while we got power.

I too was like some of you....I knew it was coming this way. Everyone made fun of me when I got the Generator when Gustav was coming this way. So I was ready. We plyloxed the windows. I also read about using sticky back velcro tape and foam board to cover small windows...i did that and they all held...

From 1977-80 I went to school at the old HSPVA downtown. Every, or many Fridays at noon they would blow the civil defense siren.

Hope you don't mind a bit off topic.. Going to Austin tomorrow....does anyone know how the rivers are ( Pedernales or Guadelupe) ? The flash flood sign always scares me at Perdernales!
