Re: June 2025

Slight risk has been expanded to include the metro and parts east for this evening. CAMs have all suggested that redevelopment is possible right over central Harris Co with all this daytime heating around rush hour. Keep an eye out. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GtA-wVLXIAA7W6y?format=jpg&name=900...

Re: May 2025

Looks like the radar is starting to fill in out west near Katy/Cypress back towards Hempstead in the warm sector out in front of the main line. This is the area I’d keep an eye out for.. if one or two of these can get established and remain discrete, watch out.

Re: May 2025

14Z run of the HRRR is terrifying for the Houston metro if it verifies (it won’t and don’t get stuck on any one singular model run).. but just goes to show the potential for today.

Re: May 2025

Mesocale Precipitation discussion for our area. Let's see if we can get things to fire and the radar fills in this afternoon.

Re: May 2025

Is the storm motion east or something? I keep checking the radar every 30 minutes and it looks like the storms havent really made any progress southward Very weird storm motions. Storms in NE/E Harris Co are drifting ever so slightly east. Storms NW have started moving and propagating north or even...

Re: May 2025

Storms avoiding Harris Co (aside from Kingwood) so far like the plague. Don’t want to deal with any of the hail, but it sure would be nice if us in metro Houston could catch a cell or two prior to the line that’s supposed to form and move south later tonight. Got the drone all charged up and nothing...

Re: January 2025

Weird day with the front coming through this morning and now retreating. Some pockets of really heavy thunderstorm rain rates. Picked up 2.5" so far.

Re: January 2025

Finished with about 3" here. Was really coming down hard this morning. Sad we didn't cash in on some of the huge numbers that were out there, but after the models trended to almost nothing, I'm pleasantly surprised. Still historic in these parts and plenty of white stuff to make it feel like a ...

And just like that, switched over to mostly snow. Wild stuff.

Re: January 2025

Have a hard time believing that when it's 10 pm and I still haven't seen nothing I believe all of this mischief is just a precursor to what's to form. If anything, there's way more moisture further north and west than what all the CAMs were showing. The fact it's already all snow and sleet plus all...

Re: January 2025

Getting dry slotted here a bit in the city for now after some light off/on sleet, but really liking the trends so far. Seems like things are starting to amp up and fill in nicely and the transition to full snow is quickly marching south. Now the question is do I stay up and power through or hit the ...

Good morning everyone! Here's to hoping we all cash in tonight/tomorrow! I made chili last night to get me through the week, so bring on whatever may come. Think some of us may wake up tomorrow surprised.. one way or another.

Re: January 2025

We're still a little over 24 hours out from this thing getting started so things will no doubt still swing a little here and there. However, at the same time you can't ignore the trends all the models have taken since this afternoon with essentially all of them noticeably shifting towards the south....

HRRR with a noticeable southward shift as well. Still running, but pushing the higher totals down to the coast.

Re: January 2025

Here we go, 0Z HRRR is running. 24 hours out, this run should give us the first peak in our area of the entirety of the event.
