20.8F here this morning. If these clouds do not break, those forecasted high temps may be in trouble. We will see.

Models indicate no further cold fronts reaching southeast Texas for at least the next 10 days. 70s coming next week, possibly very close to 80 degrees here!

Do you think we will see some more cold fronts after this 10 day thaw-out?

I think I can easily handle that!! 22.1F this am at the house. I haven't kept real records, but if memory serves we have had more and colder freezes than we have had in a long time. I've been in this house since 1987. Personally I would say this Winter has rivaled, but not beat, 1973, 1983, and 1989. Even with the sun out and it warming up, we have been below freezing for almost 24 hours here at the house. Currently at 31F.

One of my coworkers pointed out how poorly GFS MOS did with the forecast for Bartlesville, OK this morning. Remember, they hit -27F for the low today. The forecast was for a low of 7 degrees - 34 degrees too warm!

RELIEF FROM THE COLD IS ON THE WAY. A FEW MORE COLD MORNINGS ARE
EXPECTED AND THEN A WARM UP BEGINS OVER THE WEEKEND. IT LOOKS LIKE
THE COLD AIR WILL FINALLY RETREAT TO THE NORTH AND ALLOW WARMER
TEMPERATURES THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.

Is it just me or does it feel much colder than last weeks front????.. How come this one didn't get near the attention? Is it just because of the precip???

Do you think we will see some more cold fronts after this 10 day thaw-out?
12Z GFS indicates no frontal passages for us through 16 days. I'd tend to believe we won't see any for 10-12 days, anyway.

Last week was colder, but the main reason is that the ice storm partially shut down the city last Friday, not to mention the rolling brown-outs.

The GFS and Euro in the longer range suggest a potential big convective Spring Storm taking shape around day 10 across the Southern/Central Plains. We know the routine, but it is interesting to see some agreement, even at this range. What follows that storm may be our next shot of some 'cooler air' after the warm up. It's getting near Trail Ride time in Houston. Surprises seem to happen around that event.

I hope we have a active, or at least a "normal" spring storm season this time instead of another season of cap, cap, and more cap :P

After we get a few strong arctic cold fronts that deliver several days and nights worth of freezing or subfreezing weather we get a warm up which, needles to say, can easily perplex plants into thinking that the season of Spring has arrived only to have yet another good round or two of more freezing or subfreezing temperatures for x-number of days and nights and that can be devastating on them by setting them back anywhere from several days to a few weeks if not longer.

I'll second that one!! Severe season wasn't last year. It wasn't even boring, it just wasn't.
