Nice drop at San Antonio International. Now 25F winds gusting to 41 mph. They reported 51F @ 5:00 AM.

Rain or no rain/freezing rain - its going to be COLD again.

So will we start our spring after this cold blast or will we will more colder weather at the end of February/beginning of March?

Front just passed my location in NW Harris County.

Here in NW Austin, TX DOT is closing 183 both directions (between McNeil and Toll 45) due to icing (Fox 7 just reported). There have been many accidents, but nothing compared to last week. I slipped twice on my way to work this morning. Thankfully the icing on the road isn't solid, so able to gain traction fairly easily again. The big problems are elevated surfaces.

At one point this morning, traffic was backed up from McNeil all the way up to Cedar Park's Buttercup Creek subdivision.

Not much at all (1-2 degrees). Colder air is lagging behind just a bit. Brenham is in the upper 20's/low 30's. Hempstead has dropped to the upper 30's as well, so it's marching SE.

Just my humble opinion, but I am thinking (hoping..LOL) that we will be ok. I am not seeing the moisture from the wrap around and the wind should dry things out for rush hour traffic. I am just hoping.

It must've passed through Cypress then too. I don't get off work until about 2...so I'm a little worried. What do y'all think?

If there is enough wrap around moisture, and I swear I do not see it, I am hoping for snow. Driving in snow, although not a picnic, is much easier than sleet and a heck of a lot easier than freezing rain.

I wonder why this cold blast (and it's currently in the teens in the hill country) is not being tracked with as much enthusiasm as the last front?

(I'm at 45 degrees in NW Houston near 249/Grant Rd. wind about 7 mph out of the NW)

It won't be snow. It will be freezing rain. Temps are dropping so fast I'm really wondering what the roads will be like this evening. Not much dry time. Only saving grace is temps have been warmer over the last couple of days.

I suspect folks are feeling a bit burned by last weeks event and frankly, folks are growing weary of the cold. But that's just my opinion. Edit to add: I just hope we don't get a big surprise as the morning wears on. Houston traffic and ice are not a good mix.

I'm burned from tracking it and being really disappointed as well, but this with this frontal passage, I'm seeing a bit colder temps behind this front. Any chance we'll see teens tonight?
