With the sun now peeking through, any thoughts (guesses) as to whether and how much the temps may rebound this afternoon before dropping again?

Little, if any. Strong CAA pouring is off-setting it. Expect temps to either hold steady or continue to drop. Many areas across Houston are now below freezing or very close to it.

I'm waiting to hear what Greg Bostwick says about the Golden Triangle :D :D :D ....Come on, Greg.....Let us have it!!! :D
The last thing I saw from him was this on FB about 5 hours ago:

Greg Bostwick
Could see some snow and sleet in our area Thursday night into Friday. Too early to tell yet if we will see any accumulations. Watch tonight at 5 and 6 and I'll have the latest.

James Brown was on News at Noon. I saw some of it. Looks like they have 40% snow? for Thursday and 70% snow/sleet and possibly freezing rain for Friday. It was a new graphic spitting out lots of frozen precip. :)
Yea, I saw saw James Browns report......According to the graphics it show 70% of clouds??? for Friday..lol...I'm think rain/snow event all night Thursday maybe....Wondering if they may close schools possibly......hhmmm..

Hello and Welcome.

Probably more like to Huntsville or more. I suspect the entire area will see snow---and accumulations. The low is closer to the coast this go around than in '04.

I notice the 12Z Canadian shows about 1/2" of liquid precip across Houston Thu nite/Fri and the temps aloft are much colder than in earlier runs. It's now indicating snow, not rain across Houston. Could be quite an interesting snow event here Thu PM to Fri PM.

From Beaumont area...If Bostwick saying anything about frozen stuff...must be pretty good odds of seeing it. Bostwick is very conservative when it comes to winter weather.

They need to do something about that graphic online as it looks like just clouds. lol
It was animated on the news, showing snow and sleet.

Looking at the Euro in more detail, it shows a band of moderate snow moving through Southeast Texas hence the higher snow totals.

Should hear from Greg at 5:00...I'm curious to see what he says. You are right, though. He is conservative about these events..

Yeah...it's animated on TV and I think online it's just a snaphot, so the snapshot of it only caught the part not spitting out all the frozen precip..I've noticed this many times. I take it as 70% frozen precip! ....time to go buy a snow shovel! j/k

OFF TOPIC KINDA: ***PLEASE PROTECT THE ANIMALS****

Folks, it is no mistake that there are a lot of ignorant people in this world. Animals get cold. Their fur only goes so far. With temps now forecast to hit the teens for many of us (especially on the north side) it is CRUEL to leave your animals outside. I'm begging you, please, PLEASE, bring your animals in. If you don't like them in your house, put them in the garage with warm blankets to sleep on. Just do SOMETHING to get them out of the elements. I worry about the animals. I love them. If you are in a position to do so, pick the strays up walking the streets and offer them a place for the night. That is what we do. I worry about the dogs and cats that people let wonder. It is mean, cruel and selfish not to bring them in. Please don't forget about our furry friends. They love us and hopefully you love them.

Yea noticed that...new graphic...accuweather Joe Bastardi, video 1pm said another big shot of cold air around same time frame to make its way to Texas, next week...said he was pummped about another snow in and around the Houston area...showed model with general 1 inch to 3 inch in most areas with more in isolated areas, but looks like it going to happen.

I've been biting for several days now. Looking more likely that we'll see some significant accumulations with each model run. Temps aloft won't be an issue, and it seems moisture won't be an issue. Upper low moving right across our area - that's all we need for snow.

Question....I'm hearing a lot about snow north of IH-10 and south of IH-10. What if we are in the Beaumont area? IH-10 is a LOT further north than IH-10 in HOU.....Is it our IH-10 or HOU I-10? ....I know, stupid question...
