I know some people have been interested in a radar that I have been posting for the last couple of days and I thought it would be appropriate to create a topic too let everyone know what it is, what "mods" I use on it, and how they can find it. The name of this radar that I have been using (along with many other people) is called Gr Level 3. While that is the most common version used there are many other versions such as the Gr level 2. The pricing is as followed:

Gr Level 3- $80
Gr Level 2- $80
Gr2 Analyst- $250

Each radar comes with a 21 day free trial and more information can be found here:

Now from my experience with Gr Level 3, it has been one of my best purchases. While $80 is defiantly not cheap, the amount of things you can do with this radar is amazing. Zooming, different types of radars, storm movement, and much more all create this great product. The thing that I like the best though (and just discovered a couple of weeks ago) are the mods that can be integrated into the radar.

These mods are called place-files and shape-files. What they do is allow you to customize your radar to your liking. You can use different backgrounds for your radar and create different color tables. It takes this radar to the next level. I for instance use a tropical tracker with Hermine to see how far off the storm was from the NWS's predicted area. Along with that I use another place-file that instantly puts up all the daily QPF's. Anyways here are a couple of sites that I have found to get these mods:

http://www.grlevelxmods.com/

These sites have tutorials and much more that can help anyone who needs help setting up a place-file or shape-file. I am not trying to sound like a salesman by any means but this radar is truly exceptional and I know many people have them and some people where interested in them so I thought it would be alright to post here allowing people to share what they have found and ask any questions they have. If you have any other questions please post here or feel free to send me a PM.

I have had this radar for the past few years and unfortunately only recently realized I could add so many things to it. I had been using it no where near its capacity. However even before I started adding things it was one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I not only use it for local weather but when I am bored I will open it up and look at severe storms elsewhere and just study them with all the different tools
