That wind last night was no joke.

I had to pull up all of my Christmas blow molds lastnight. They were flying all over the place

Had to restake a few of the front yard X-mas decorations.

GFS runs are all over the map, but Euro and Canadian are buying in. For now.

Meh, models always want to dig huge bowling balls and troughs in that California/Baja/Northwest Mexico region, regardless of whether it makes sense or not. It's overdone, it will just be a tease.

Christmas looks nice and brisk! I’d like it colder but a Christmas low in the low 30s and a high in the low 50s is acceptable.

It’s long range but there are some nights in the 20s and highs in the 40s.

Looking like a shot of colder weather arrives for Christmas. I see the extended range guidance suggests much colder air may be ahead as the New Year approaches.

I see the Christmas blast on the Euro but it looks to be east of Texas.

Frosty night up in College Station. with solid radiational cooling and no wind. We're down to 32°F. Conroe overperforming at 29°F.

I would love to know why Conroe is always so much colder than everywhere else.

Really good question. It could be a micro-climate around the measurement station at the Conroe - Montgomery Co. Airport. The site is NE of town and away from the UHI effect. The College Station Airport is part of campus and next to a mammoth concrete, building infrastructure, heat, particulate, and CO2 generating engine.

The low in Conroe last night was 26°F, CLL = 29°F, 28°F IMBY

The UHI effect, or lack thereof, seems most likely as Caldwell, just 18 mi WSW of here reached down to 25°F last night.

I have heard some OCM's say that the Conroe gauge is in a low spot, so in calm nights the readings are always cooler than surrounding areas. I'm on a tiny ridge (pretty much only visible on a topographical map) so I tend to be a tad warmer than other areas. My low was 30.6. WeatherUnderground's map showed me at "31" but there were lots of 29s and 30s in the area. I saw 32 in Oak Ridge North. A few 27s further out.

I covered the plants but my red cloaks took another beating. I will probably have to top them off in the spring. I've about had my fill of cold weather for this year but it is nice burning a fire with the tree & decorations.

That part of Conroe also sits in a depression so the cold air settles.

I used to live near there. I remember one morning vividly. It was 19 at the house and 27 on I 45.

I’m not too far from you. Woodlane Forest in Magnolia. It got down to 29 here.

The town is lower than the lake and mall IIRC.

Yeah on Wunderground it's 40° on 105 near Lake Conroe, 43°F near 45 and 36 near the airport.

Niced UHI bubble around College Station. We're also a little higher than surrounding areas.

Looks like a decent front for Christmas Eve but most of it looks to go towards the EC. Shocker. Maybe it’ll move back W as we get closer.
