Many roads are flooded already and coming down too fast for txdot to close these roads fast enough. Drive slow. College and MLK area is rhe area i drove. 2 underpasses filled up fast. Turn around dont drown.
Those overpasses can fill up quick. I havent noticed any heavy downpours yet downtown but I'm sure it's a hit and miss thing right now.
Yeah its a band from PA towards Beaumont, but the entire band is still lifting N as it rotates. Just looked at radar again and it looks like we are in for another hefty training band in a few. You in Orange should be getting in on the action probably within the next 30min as it rotates northward.

My Moderator's PSA for this upcoming event ( well, I suppose ongoing). Our pro and amateur mets will be here, on and off all day ( and week). This will be an ever changing situation. Remember, they are forecasting and doing met stuff, so be patient with them if you have questions.

TPW is sky high. I anticipate once the rain really starts rocking, its going to come in buckets.

There is a pretty evident circulation center on radar just south of Brazoria county.

Couldn't get my tweet with the radar loop to load in here so here is the link: https://twitter.com/stephenuzick/status ... 8953942017

I've seen named tropical storms that looked less impressive and less organized than 98L does on satellite, and I've been doing this a long time.

That's no joke. Looking at the NOAA Buoy data (at least for those that have recently updated), winds look at bit gusty in the squalls. I'm not as keen on tropical weather in my very amateur weather wisdom, but agree with others that this would seem to be a tropical depression.

If you are looking at the various 12Z Mesoscale models, an eyebrow is raised with the very slow meandering surface low pressure that just seems to want to creep ever so slowly inland. There remains a lot of uncertainty regarding where (which locations/neighborhoods), how much rain will fall and just how long this will continue over the next 60 hours or so.

It looks to be a Depression to me also. The flooding threat doesn't really begin until the center is inland, tomorrow morning is when a majority of models show a core rain event starting.
