Happy Summer From HGX

I have had 4.11" since Sunday, so I got the 3-5" of rain I was so desperately hoping for, and it was spread out over 4 days (Sun-Wed) and not all at once. Hopefully the last of this will move on without causing any more flooding issues.

Seeing the short range model trends and observing the rain dissipating in Matagorda County, I'm growingly confident that we'll see an end to this rain faster than earlier anticipated. HRRR forecasts a quiet evening commute with generally dissipating rain.

Today is the summer solstice! Summer is officially here. I'm enjoying the rain and cooler temperatures while I can.

A HUGE thank you to all the pro mets ( Brooks, Andrew, Srain, Wxman 57, Jeff, Belmer and Mcheer) that came on here and helped with the forecasts and general observations. It is because of you and the amateur mets that we are able to have such a strong board. Thank you again.

HGX Weather Update

Looks like the last bit of our tropical sytem rains are drying up for our area. Woohoo! Weekends almost here! Let the sunshine come! Im ready! Huge thank you to everyone for keeping us all up to date. Not only for metro Houston area but your neighbors all around setx. You were very helpful to us here in Beaumont. Kudos to everyone. Enjoy the upcoming weekend!

I see skies clearing to the N of Katy. Thanks to everyone for their kind words and providing real time updates throughout this event. Little factiod is this was the first time since Harvey the IAH officially reported over an inch of rainfall over multiple days. And to the KHOU Weather Team, never forget we are an extension of what you do daily and while ratings may not always reflect it, our KHOU Weather Forum and the KHOU Weather Team are a great resource that reaches far beyond the Houston Area. Thanks again gang! Well done as always.

Flood Advisory for Crosby area, south of Lake Houston... Activity like this should generally dissipate as the day continues. This storm is tiny, by the way, just 7mi by 4mi.... or 28 sq miles... and it's stationary. Dropped 2.12" in an hour at HCFC gauge - Gum Gully @ Diamond Head Boulevard near Crosby.

Morning precip near the coast is tapering off as atmos there
should stabilize. Further north, lingering boundaries & daytime
heating should initiate some sct shra/tstms for the rest of the
afternoon. VFR conditions are expected to prevail outside of the
precip. Moisture levels will be dropping during the next 24 hours
and precip should taper off areawide by sunset. Need to keep an
eye out for fog development later tonight with wet ground and
light winds in place. Not confident on the areal extent nor how
low visby/cig go but 2-6sm and/or 800-1500 feet would be a 1st
guess between 9-14z. Fog burns off and ceilings lift back into VFR
territory mid to late morning Fri. Rain chances are much lower
Fri than they have been and won`t include them in the TAFs. 47

A surprise shower today to bring totals up to 1.6 in of rain. Hoping for more, but much better than nothing!

Time to start thinking of July. The 4th extended Holiday is approaching. The models suggest a heat wave across the Central United States. Looks like some rain chances return next week from a disturbance to our N. No deep tropical moisture from an un-named mess that flooded a large portion of Texas and and SW Louisiana. Perhaps someone new can start our July Discussions...

A bit of a slight increase in deeper tropical moisture and a weakness in the sub tropical Ridge Tuesday night into Wednesday may offer some heat of the day storms to fire off throughout the rest of June.

A few isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon as the Summer heat continues across SE TX.
This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Southeast Texas..

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible today. A few
of the stronger storms could produce brief gusty winds above 30
mile per hour.

It`ll be very warm again today and heat index values will range
from 102 to 107 degrees.

No hazardous weather is expected at this time.
