No splenda. That stuff is horrible for our bodies. Horrible.

However...bring on plenty of naturally sweetened iced tea for these sweltering days!!!

Still sticking with Oct 20.

My birthday falls on October 14, and it's a tradition for me to spend it in Galveston. 2014 it was very warm, but 2015, we had long sleeves and flannel on. Last year it was warm again. Libras are all about balance, so I am going to predict the first cold front to be October 14. :-)

It's scientific enough for me. ;-)

September 27th-28th. ;) A combination of former WPAC Super Typhoon Malakas that is buckling and energizing the Pacific Jet stream, Paine remnants from the Eastern Pacific and another disturbance developing S of the Baja Peninsula look to become entrenched in a deepening Western Trough with a meandering cut off low in the Desert SW this weekend will eventually sweep the first shot of 'colder air' out of Canada into the Inter Mountain West and Plains mid next week.

ECMWF is showing quite the cold front/cuttoff low over the central plains late September. It's an interesting split of energy as the long-wave shears out and the upper level cutoff low is left behind. Dewpoints are down into the 50s and 40s across the region with some 20 degree dewpoints in the Panhandle region. Still a long ways away.

GFS has 50s at night reaching the Hill Country on 9/27, but not farther East...then hot until at least Oct 6. We'll see.

Growing confidence that the 26/27th time period we will see a front move through the region. Temps should drop into the 60s (lows) but it will be a close call on the 59 degree temps. Still about a week out so things will continue to develop.

From NWS tonight:
A cold front will bring cooler temperatures (lows in the 60s!) to parts
of our area beginning as early as Tuesday morning and continuing for
the remainder of the week. The last time we saw temperatures below 70
degrees was June 6th at College Station (69 degrees), June 5th at Houston
Intercontinental Airport (68 degrees), June 2nd at Houston Hobby Airport
(69 degrees) and May 27th at Galveston (66 degrees).

I think IAH reported a low temperature today of 71F. So, my September 27th guess was not a winner.

If I may guess again, I'll say October 3rd. (Just for fun)

Friday morning 2 meter temperature readings via the 06Z GFS suggests IAH may flirt with near 60F readings. Many locations N of I-10 look good for some mid to upper 50's away from the Urban Heat Island locations. Those temperatures will be the coolest we've seen since early May.

GFS has been rather persistent that IAH will see upper 50s Saturday morning. It has shown it for the last 14 or so runs. Obviously upper level clouds will be the key but pretty good if correct considering we saw this about a week or two out.

The current dew point is 61° at IAH. It's going to be close tonight.

Yep - 58°F around dawn.

CLL clocks in at 56°F for the low.

Conroe, a frequent cool spot, recorded a low of 51°F around 5 am.
