JUNE 2015 -Scattered Showers/Storms To End The Month
Would you believe UA has not cancelled our fight into IAH arriving at 4:40 pm today.....last flight 6:40, and if I change to tomorrow.... penalty. If they do cancel, we will already be heading to the airport. Grrrr.

Nice wobble to the SW for Bill. I recall Carla did this as well back in 1961 near Matagorda Bay.

did everyone go into work today?
I decided to stay home. Looks like some folks at my office went in, some stayed home. I knew if I went in I would just be watching the weather and worrying and probably wouldn't accomplish much. You can call me Nervous Nellie.ticka1 wrote:did everyone go into work today?
hey ticka! I'm at work here in Alvin, for now.... LOL
our son did, his employer gathered all employees together yesterday & basically threatened "better be here & not be late" (kinder, gentler version). his ride in was looking like a normal, nasty day on 290, but I hope it isn't raining horribly for his ride home (after mandatory overtime)ticka1 wrote:did everyone go into work today?
that's all I'm going to say about that...

Yep I am at work in Stafford. Was dry coming in. Got to work around 7:45 and started pouring 2 minutes later. Since then it has been light rains and gusty winds so far this morning.
At work in the Galleria area. Easy commute, light rain.

Any chance it keeps going west and moves closer to Corpus?

Should wobble back to the NW. There is a trough axis across Central Texas and the upper level Westerly wind flow should pick it up and lift off to the NE.Texashawk wrote:Any chance it keeps going west and moves closer to Corpus?

I'll admit I know nothing about forecasting weather or reading maps or graphs or anything of the sort. But, in looking at the visible imagery and loop imagery in regards to the wobble, it almost appears that a different center of circulation is trying to form to the west of Corpus Christi even as the "eye" is nearing the coast. There is so much deep convection to the south of this system that is pulling in and appearing to try to wrap further out in the Gulf.srainhoutx wrote:Nice wobble to the SW for Bill. Here in Corpus, the clouds are low, no rain, and a NNW wind around 10-15. The local TV weatherman, a low-keyed person, said 2-3 inches would cause some flooding down here. The beach is already holding water from the active surf. The forecast for Corpus is for afternoon rain, but not too windy at all.
