JUNE 2015 -Scattered Showers/Storms To End The Month

I had rain coming home from the Galleria area, than a brief heavy downpour at about 59 and Bellaire, traffic almost literally stopped. I got home, nothing here at the time. The skies started rumbling, than we received a brief heavy downpour, than rained for about 5 minutes or so. That's been it. We seem to be in a dry pocket here the last few go rounds of rain. Last Saturday the skies rumbled but we did not get a drop, same on Sunday.

CLUSTER OF THUNDERSTORM PRODUCING VERY HEAVY RAIN ACROSS PARTS OF
THE WARNED AREA. THE STORMS ARE PRODUCING RAINFALL RATES OF 2 TO 4
INCHES PER HOUR...AND HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE ANOTHER 2 TO 4
INCHES BEFORE 730 PM IF THEY PERSIST. THIS WILL LEAD TO FLOODING.

The past June 2011, 2012, and 2013 had 100 degree days. This June has had none.



June 2014 has been a delightful weather surprise. My question was would it be a wet and wild month or turn out to be high and dry. I kept "score" of the days in June that my backyard had a measurable amount of rain and those that did not. The final score is
High & dry - 20
Wet & wild - 10

My rain gauge shows a total amount of 2.95 inches, which is not as much as some received this month but I am grateful.

As Ptarmigan points out, our temps were not as hot as the past 3 years.

I guess I would call it wet and wild as it has certainly been different than what we have had in the past few years.

It has been a great weather month...on to July 2014....

This was my weather post on June 30, 2014. What a difference a year makes.
June 2015 has been extremely WET & WILD in comparison to June 2014 as my rain gauge shows a total of 7.04 inches of rain this month and I am very grateful. NO. You cannot fool mother nature.

It has been a nice and WET weather month...On to July 2015....

The question is: Will the lack of an approaching shortwave (if they're right) mean weaker storms than today's?

What an amazing recovery we have witnessed during the month of June when compared to the peak drought year of 2011 for SE Texas.
