Update from Jeff:

Line of strong storms extends from Lufkin to Jersey Village to Richmond to Palacios.

Radar shows several bowing line segments which could produce wind damage with little or no warning. First segment is over NW Harris County moving toward Tomball. Second segment is over northern Fort Bend County moving toward Sugar Land and SW Harris County and the third and strongest is over SE Wharton county moving toward western and southwestern Fort Bend County. These many bows may be capable of transporting stronger winds aloft to the surface.

The line continues to move eastward at 10-15mph under the influence of a surface cold pool which is helping to shove the line on eastward even under increasingly parallel upper level flow conditions. At some point the line is going to run out of forward momentum and pull up stationary, but it is likely this will be just east of our area. Will continue to watch radar trends closely. A quick 1-2 inches of rainfall is likely with the line.

After this rain, I could go a couple weeks of dry weather, and NOT HUMID, to dry the grass out so I can mow and do some yard work. Snakes are already out in my neck of the woods.

Looks like line is slowing down. I am now starting to see training on the SE side of Harris county. Main line of storm that moved through downtown earlier looks like it detached a bit from the main line and moved NE/NNE. Now another bow echo'ish is coming from the South to NE/NNE. Folks in Pasadena, Webster, League City, Deer Park, Baytown, Pearland: heads up! This will probably be where most of the flooding will occur where it looks like as of now. Glad the severe part has decreased a bit.

Expecting a flood warning to be issued soon at this rate of rainfall falling and not moving much.

The line should slow down as it reaches Beaumont to Lake Charles area, but I don't see too much slowing yet. Could be a much heavier rain event east of Houston. So far, the line has produced from 0.75 to 1.75" of rain across the city. Not that big of a deal for us, but watch out in SW LA where it really slows down.
