Actually, not temps in the 90s, but heat indices in the 90s. Maybe mid 80s for temps. More great biking weather. Time to head out shortly...

At least I got your attention. ;) Perhaps a May thread would be in order as we transition into Tropical Season.

sleetstorm wrote:Man, what a bummer. I was honestly looking forward to experiencing some good and exciting severe thunderstorms last night and early this morning, but it just was not meant to be our turn.

Two things happened, really. The atmosphere stabilized quote a bit as night set in. It was terrible out during the day, but it became quite pleasant after the sun waved bye bye. Then, everyone thought the cap would weaken somewhat, but that just did not happen. Never the less, it was said all along that folks north of us were under the gun. There was actually a line of light to moderate showers pass across our area, but this line just didn't have what it needed to kick up some dust. It is just one of those things we expect in weather. We have to report the possibilities. Had the cap weakened... Safe, than sorry comes to mind.

Update from SPC regarding todays chance of storms...

...TX...
MORNING SURFACE ANALYSIS SHOWS A COLD FRONT SURGING SOUTHWARD ACROSS
WEST/NORTH CENTRAL TX. THIS BOUNDARY WILL LIKELY EXTEND ACROSS
CENTRAL TX BY LATE AFTERNOON...WHERE STRONG DAYTIME HEATING AND
RETURNING GULF MOISTURE WILL COMBINE TO YIELD MLCAPE VALUES OF
1000-1500 J/KG. MODEL GUIDANCE IS IN GOOD AGREEMENT THAT A FEW
STRONG/SEVERE STORMS WILL FORM IN THIS REGION WITH HAIL AND GUSTY
WINDS POSSIBLE IN THE STRONGER CELLS.

06Z WRF Radar Sim suggests that any storms will remain N and W of the Houston Metro area...we shall see...

Soundings show almost zero moisture at the surface and aloft here. Hard to get blood out of a turnip, or rain out of dry air.
