Quiet days have finally arrived as an unseasonably cold and dry airmass filters into SE TX today. The upper level low will finally move E of TX by tonight taking clouds and slight shower chances out of the state. Excellent weather for this time of year with lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s tomorrow and Thursday followed by lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s through the weekend under mostly sunny skies for the entire 6 days. A well needed break from the weather excitement.

After a very stormy and unsettled weather pattern that plagued our Region during the month of April, a quiet and pleasant period is ahead as we end the month. As we begin the month of May, there are some indications via the various ensemble mean computer guidance that a return flow off the Gulf of Mexico will become established and a couple of shortwaves near the Pacific NW begin carving out a Western trough while a Ridge of High Pressure establishes across the Eastern United States and the Northern Plains and Great Lakes Region. May typically offers increasing chances of severe weather episodes across the Great Plains bringing showers and storms chances across the Southern Plains with chances of rainfall into Texas and Louisiana.
If the ensembles are correct, we could see a return to unsettled weather around May 5th / 6th extending into the second weekend of May. Time for a new Topic if anyone cares to begin our transition from April into May. It's also time to begin looking toward the beginning of Hurricane Season 2015 which begins May 15th in the Eastern Pacific Basin and June 1st in the North Atlantic Basin.
