The front is near Magnolia and Conroe, and moving fast. 1:38 pm CT.
Doesn't seem to be much heavy rain or severe weather. Fingers crossed on limited severe weather. I didn't see much shear in the clouds. Not like the lasts FROPA.

Front is on its way. I hear thunder in the background. I am thinking, like Doc said, these "should" not pulse severe.( at least in our immediate area)

Front seems to be moving faster than expected? Last I heard it wasn't suppose to be off the coast till after sunset but it's chugging along pretty quick

Well, it is not overperforming as far temperature drops. I think it caught momentum after it hit Dallas.Brazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 1:54 pm Front seems to be moving faster than expected? As I said last week, for SETX, this is just a teaser for later in the month. Yeah it would be nice to get something out of this but we really need to step down to get any winter weather south of CS.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:10 pm Newest 6-10 and 8-14 day outlook from noaa, below normal weather and above normal precipitation continue through the 20th, no warms up at all
This set up is wonderful for North Texas.

This is a complete pattern change from December. We are in this for at least February. We will see a series of cold fronts coming through. There might be brief thaws, but the temperatures will be below normal for extended periods of timeBrazoriatx979 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 2:37 pm Any indications on when we might see another cold front after this one

Its not often you see ensembles agree on a very stout - EPO ridge and -NAO block for late january, trough pulls back west and sets up shop over the central US, thats a recipe for big cold and potentially “ snowier” weather, but either way cant complain about an extended stretch of below normal temperatures!
The MJO is about to pass through our cold phases (8, 1, & 2). If we can get it to slow down some then we can keep this cold going into February.Stratton20 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 3:34 pm Its not often you see ensembles agree on a very stout - EPO ridge and -NAO block for late january, trough pulls back west and sets up shop over the central US, thats a recipe for big cold and potentially “ snowier” weather, but either way cant complain about an extended stretch of below normal temperatures!

New name for wind chill advisory. A wind chill warning is now called an extreme cold warning.
