0z NAM run really concentrates things down near the valley. Still has some parts of Houston in the snow depth zone but it’s the lightest shade of gray.
It’s a weird run. Suggests continued frozen precip during the day on Friday in Houston when temps are supposed to be pushing and exceeding the 40s.

Yep,the 0Z NAM is a lot more reasonable than the 18Z run.

Yes but doesn’t that usually happen with a cold core upper low with deep, deep cold vs the shallow arctic air mass that’s been described with this particular system?Kingwood36 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 9:04 pmIt can snow when it's 37 or 38 degrees lol doesn't have to be 32 down where we aretxsnowmaker wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 8:57 pm 0z NAM run really concentrates things down near the valley. FWIW, Fox 26 lead with the possibility of winter weather, and Dr. Jim seems somewhat bullish about it!

walsean1 sleet and ice, definitely would be rough, considering we are 60 hours from this potential event we should be confident by tommorow on whats going to happen
When you got kids and have an early bedtime during the week - yeah the 9:00 news is pretty appealing.
Anyway, he didn’t get too excited about it. He said some pockets of light, mixed precipitation but “no snow storm” for the Houston area.
Jeff Linder, less bullish on winter precipitation, David Paul, somewhat bullish on winter precipitation, NWS Corpus Christi, More Bullish on winter precipitation which is south of the Hou/Gal. We will see what happens with models and forecast by Wednesday evening

0z GFS keeps Houston on the snow depth map, and David Paul just now saying Thursday night brings “at least a chance for some snow flakes.”
