A feeder band is starting to form across the southwest counties
Gonzalo is now just a depression and expected to fizzle out over the next day or two (eastern Caribbean graveyard for storms) and the NHC is calling for a 70% chance that 92L develops into a depression within the next 5 days.
Had a decent round this morning, and I’ll take what we got. But seems like things are winding down for the metro, and a dry slot in place?. Sun is peeking out. HRRR seems to agree.

Hurricane Hanna continues to track westward at about 7mph. Gusty
squalls will continue across the southern flying areas today and
into the night mainly effecting IAH and south with gust but high
winds are expected throughout the region. MVFR ceilings, SHRA/TSRA
are expected throughout the forecast as bands move through the
areas. As with any tropical system, exact placement and timing is
difficult past the short range forecast. Heavier rainfall amount`s
are in the coastal flying areas including HOU, SGR, LBX, and GLS.
Improving conditions are expected tonight as Hanna makes landfall,
but in Hanna`s wake left ample moisture to feed back into overnight
lowered ceilings and rain chances in the afternoon.

We are getting reports of significant structural damage in Port Mansfield, TX. A nearby TCOON observation is reporting 83 MPH wind gusts right now. Will have more information soon. #HurricaneHanna #RGVwx #txwx

I see a tornado warning for a private service just issued for west of E. Bernard to east of Columbus. Not seeing anything on NWS and being such a broad area I'm guessing the private tor warns are closer to tor watches. It's for industry clients. But maybe an area to watch.

Hanna continues to intensify on approach to the lower TX coast…landfall within the next few hours.
103mph gust recorded at San Jose TCOON site north of Port Mansfield. Law enforcement reports structural damage in Port Mansfield with frequent gusts of 70-80mph in the western eyewall. USAF mission in progress indicates the central pressure has fallen to 973mb and the sustained winds have increased to 85mph. Buoy 020, 60 SSE of CRP is gusting to 83mph. Bob Hall Pier has gusted to 70mph and is reporting a current water levels of 5.5 feet above the beach…storm surge flooding is ongoing over Mustang Island and North Padre Island. Port Mansfield tide gage is showing -.5 foot reading as very strong NW winds blow the water on the west side of the Laguna Madre toward the backside of Padre Island. As the center moves inland the winds wind from NW to SE on the east side of the eye water will come rushing back west across the lower Laguna Madre and rise very quickly.
Hanna will continue to slowly move west-south west and make landfall on Padre Island near San Jose or Port Mansfield in the next 1-2 hours then track into deep south TX and the mid lower Valley. Significant wind and rainfall is likely tonight across the lower Rio Grande Valley with rainfall amounts of 10-20 inches in the southern semi-circle of the weakening hurricane. Potentially life threatening flash flooding tonight over the highly populated metro areas of southern Texas as the HREF ensemble mean signal is very strong for significant rains in this area tonight.
Along the upper and middle Texas coast, feeder bands continue to sweep inland and have been producing brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Tides along the coast did produce some coastal flooding at the morning high tide and another high tide will occur this evening, but with the wind field not as strong now along the upper TX coast, the evening high tide should be slightly lower than this morning’s high tide. Still will likely see some impacts in the usual vulnerable areas. Winds have gusted to 40-50mph along the upper TX coast today, mainly in squalls, and there was just a report of 50mph at Kemah with a passing squall.
Rain chances will remain elevated into Sunday and Monday as a well defined moisture plume on the east side of Hanna will be pulled NW into much of the TX coast.

Still seeing a lot of mesovortices rotating along the inner eyewall of #Hurricane #Hanna. Where they occur, a *rapid* change in radar velocity (+/- 50-60mph) is seen from one scan to the next!
This will likely enhance gust factor on edge of eyewall that can be very destructive.
