The 6z GFS increased the signal for some wintry precipitation over southeast TX.

The clear message right now regarding wintry precipitation over the past 2 days is that the models are slightly increasing the signal for it over our area with each passing run.

I’m just happy we are staring down a 15 day plus of well below average temps. Now that is Winter.

The long range guy at HGX in this morning's AFD stated he would not touch next week with a ten foot pole ( as far as cold and potential P Types) at this time. I agree 100 percent.

Big orange and big blue will be mobbed this weekend once word gets our. Better sneak out and supply up if you you still need things.

6Z GFS shows a full-fledged winter storm, with a gulf low developing offshore. And sleet and freezing rain to the coast.

Alright, I think it's time to start taking this potential winter precip scenario seriously.
Good time to ensure proper pipe insulation is ready (precip or not, it's going to be cold).
Also, Travis Herzog has proverbial egg on his face for this one.

Gfs doesn’t have enough moisture this run

The shortwave shears out on the 12Z GFS. And therefore keeps things dry behind the front.

LOL at the 12Z Canadian model. Which was dry until now, now it shows light freezing rain behind the front. Looks like whether we see a storm or not will be dependent on how strong that shortwave moving in from the northwest is.

These hard freezes have become so commonplace that I’m fully stocked on wraps, insulation, lights, etc.
At this point I just need some more buckets because my Tii, Bird of Paradise, etc. collection is larger now. I pop them out of the ground and keep them in the garage in buckets. Some stuff like the red cloaks are too big and will just have to grow back.
