Sun is peaking out here.. temp went up a degree in 5 min.

Could get interesting.don wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 10:18 am HRRR shows several hours of frozen precip (possibly heavy at times) all the way down to I-10. It also looks like models underestimated the cold air advection and are playing catch up since last night. If the trend continues i wouldn't be surprised to see Harris county added to the Winter Weather Advisory.
What about Beaumont? Os any of this gonna show in Beaumont. Our I-10 border is more north than Houstons I-10 border but we are a little more east. Hoping if Porter/Houston areas see anything we will too, but again thats if it decides to move a tad east. Any Pro ideas on what we could see? Esp with the further south movements ? TIA

It does not have to be freezing cold to have snow falling.

Probably mid afternoon ... 3-4 hours.
Nothing is going to get busy in here until then

This is from my old Texas Weather book. The caption reads “Snowfall totals (inches) for January 8 - 11, 1973.

The main event wont start until late afternoon through the night. When the trowel or wrap around moisture becomes enhanced with cold air advection filtering in at the same time. The HRRR has been consistent since last night on showing this, that is also the time when the precip may become heavy at times.

Alright on the road to CS now. May target Hearne and snook to avoid heat island.

Be safe. I think it's so windy the heat island effect won't matter.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:54 pm Alright on the road to CS now. May target Hearne and snook to avoid heat island.
This is turning into a Texas version of a nor-easter. I'm pretty confident we're gonna see some bursts of snow later that will surprise some people.

Love all the purple, and can’t help but notice that bit of blue trailing off to the SW of Harris County. Maybe it can hold together all the way to Houston.don wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:51 pm The main event wont start until late afternoon through the night. When the trowel or wrap around moisture becomes enhanced with cold air advection filtering in at the same time. AggieDome/UHI potentially busted. 1t's a 100% snow now. Our dog's first experience.MontgomeryCoWx wrote: ↑Sun Jan 10, 2021 12:54 pm Alright on the road to CS now. May target Hearne and snook to avoid heat island.
