Yes, mid to late January could be interesting. Not sure about February. It’ll depend a lot on the MJO.

Yup. I was just talking about that a couple of days ago. Sometimes I wonder how anyone could be so off. The beast of cold like no other all the way to central America LOL At least this time it became pretty obvious way ahead of time. Hmmm

Well, I am not a pro met ( working on it..lol) but models notoriously underperform cold air. Two, Sunday and even Monday is the day to watch. Three, there are always changes even 24 hours out.

Yes, even by Monday we won’t for sure know yet. It’s still a bit too early to write things completely off. Models are showing 1-3” of QPF across our area with temps in the mid to upper 30’s. Imagine if it was just a few degrees colder. We would be looking at a historical event. I wouldn’t give up hope quite yet. We’ll have to monitor trends and see what the mesoscale models have for temps as they come into range. By Wednesday morning we should have a definitive answer.

Seems like we have some type of winter weather event every year a tropical storm comes.

A boss of mine once said if we have active hurricane season, a cold winter with surprises usually follows. Case in point in point, winter following Harvey. (I think). Can’t remember the hurricane season preceding snow event of 2021. 2024 hurricane season was very active. I’m expecting a cold surprise winter - including snow.

There could be a heavy rain event setting up for SE Texas if the coastal low decides to move along the coast or inland like the Euro shows.
