Not exactly Paul. The 1900 came roaring in like steam roller from Cape Verde - it was already established when she rammed Galveston.

Right now today, Wednesday the 9th we are looking for perhaps a potential for a tropical Low. There is a BIG difference.
And nothing is really ON the models yet. EURO keeps flipping and GFS keeps flopping.
We are FAR from the 1900 storm. Praise the Lord.

Are we far from another Alicia or Ike, TP11?

As already stated Paul, nothing has formed as of yet.
I cant call it this early any more than our NWS can at this point.
We need to be on the weather watch beginning early next week - then we can make decisions.
Have a great weekend.

Dear Friends

IF you know anyone living in the Mid Atlantic Coast to the East Coast, and they have a disability,
I urge you to tell them immediately to get their emergency kits together and their plan of action.

Although we are days out from Hurricane Joaquin, and models do flip and flop, it does promise to bring extensive flooding to whatever area he decides to visit.

Today is National Preparedness Day - 9/30 - could it be a better reminder and time to get ready?

Please call or email or however you communicate to those you know and love and make sure they
have a plan.

thank you and good luck to those along the Coast. I hope it's a fish storm.
But you NEED to be prepared.

ECMWF (backed by Brooks Garner) says we may have the same situation (flood/wind) as the Mid Atlantic Coast to the East Coast a week from this coming Saturday, TP 11. God help us.

Hello Friends
Sorry I've been away for some time - gratefully the weather has behaved.
I have a book I've written and its been released so I've been quite busy with it.

However, a surprise is on the horizon - an early SpookyStorm, right before Halloween.
Lets keep weather aware starting Thursday, especially this coming weekend.
IF it verifies, we will be in for a lot of rain and perhaps flooding in some areas.

You know how we roll in our area....

I'll be on top of it better this weekend for you.
Just make sure you listen to our NWS and your favorite Mets on KHOU
for this weather maker.

OMG. The Memorial Day floods meets Tropical Storm Allison. Help me out, TP11.

I think some areas may see a lot of rain - don't know if I'd call it a TS Allison scenario.
We'll see what Patricia does coming up from the EPAC and how it interacts with the other systems
coming in.
Just monitor the weather, Paul. You should know the drill by now.
I can say this weekend we will see the wet stuff.
Also remember the Carolinas were saturated when their rains came in.

Well, I hope we see only the wet stuff. I don't want to see any tornadoes or 60+ MPH winds outta this thing. Any comments?

IF you have friends or family with disabilities in Central/North Texas, please advise them of the
potential for severe flooding.
This has the potential for a dangerous weather situation if not prepared.
Make sure they have evacuation plans handy if need be.

Thanks please stay weather aware.

Fascinating. Apparently Houston will be spared the severe weather that Central/North Texas is expected to experience. Or am I reading that right, Texaspirate11?

I am NOT a met Paul - just studied some models and read some pro mets:
depending on where Patricia goes, I'd say we'll see rain but
south of us and Central/North Texas will get the brunt as of now. Just stay informed, stop panicking and be prepared
come what may!!!

Time to stay prepared for our heavy rain event this weekend.
Sunday could be the day that the heaviest amount will fall.
Patricia in the EPAC is now ramping up to a Cat 4, possibly 5 and
hit Mexico on Friday.
After that, we shall see where she lands over in our area. This will be our coastal low.
It will bring copious amounts of rain somewhere along our coast from Brownsville and upwards.

Please be weather aware and prepared. West Texas is flooding badly.
Tomorrow the Hill Country should be inundated.

Stay safe.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE : City of Galveston

Galveston Could Experience Severe Weather and Flooding

Four and One-half Foot Elevated Tides Possible Over the Weekend

GALVESTON, TX (October 22, 2015) – The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for areas along the Gulf Coast this weekend to include Galveston Island. A tidal rise of over four feet is possible during this time, increasing the likelihood that roadways will become impassable. Heavy rains are also expected and will exacerbate drainage issues. Residents are cautioned to not drive through standing water and remember: Turn around, don’t drown! Stay tuned to local weather stations, websites, and news outlets for further information over the weekend.

From everything that Srainhoutex and the others have posted on this forum, are we looking at the potential "perfect storm?" I hope we receive our rain via incremental showers to allow the hard ground to at least soak in some of the rains instead of acting like concrete run-off. Sorry, TP11, but I personally do not welcome this event.

The good mets on here are correct - this will be a rainmaker with potential of flooding in some areas.
Its time to review your plans and make sure you got food etc....
You'll make it through Paul. We'll all be okay if we are prepared.

My greatest fear, unfortunately, is that millions of people, myself included, will lose power, just like with Ike.

Uh, why do I need food? Surely the whole city won't shut down.
