Yeah, tiny tropical droplets go verga faster.
October 2020
Looks to be finally tracking to the NE. Should dry out west of I-45 pretty quickly and make for a pleasant evening around here.
True statement from Travis Herzog.
“It’s amazing how far the science and technology of weather forecasting has advanced over the years. Just 20 years ago this same storm would have prompted mass evacuations for Southeast Texas due to the greater uncertainty in track forecasting. Fast forward to today, and it’s basically business as usual for the Houston/Galveston region as major Hurricane Delta passes us by.”

I've been thinking the same thing from a "well a Cat 3 hurricane is just down the road, but working and living as normal (in the COVID era)". Same thought during Laura. Kind of ridiculous to think. But really feeling for those that are down the road and being impacted. Worse enough to get one, but a double whammy is just something else.Rip76 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 11:29 am True statement from Travis Herzog.

Definitely looks like it's hit the gas on the NE track now.
Looks like a definitive NE motion now per latest recon pass over the center
Major band heading to Galveston.
Yep. Delta is maybe 60-65 miles off the coast of Galveston, moving nearly parallel to that part of the coastline.tireman4 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 11:53 amAgreed. Travis knows his stuffRip76 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 11:29 am True statement from Travis Herzog.

Geez, the sun is coming out here now. Que sprinklers. Looks like a very pleasant, but boring week ahead. Having an actual fall has been fantastic, but we need some rain ASAP. I would like to see the leaves change this year instead of just shriveling-up.
Winds have picked up dramatically here in Beaumont. Been raining since 6am nonstop. TS force in a few hours. Folks here are starting to post the gusts and wind on social media. Its quite the sight to see.

If nothing else was learned, this isn't like predicting storms in the early 2000s where there is substantially large adjustments to tracks. The NHC has been on point in the last handful of years.

Going to make landfall on the left side of the cone in my opinion
About 5-7 mi from the beach outside of Angleton and I'm getting steady gusts at or above ts force. Highest is 42 so far.
Winds picking up here in Orange. I have no way to measure it but it's definately picking up. Interesting to see what happens in 2-3 hours from now. Just hope we dont lose power.
Santa Fe here. Winds are crazy.
Gusting near 30 here in Rosharon. Doubt its going to rain anymore.
Still wind driven rains in Beaumont. 4” so far and counting...Now sustained about 40 with current gusts to about 60. Brings back that nervousness from Ike when the winds howl... 3pm till 8pm will be our high winds. 50 sustained with gusts to 70.
Tree already fell in my neighborhood and just looked at Entergy outage map and its lighting up like a Christmas tree. Stay safe everyone.
