Looks like our rain chances may increase a bit today/tomorrow with Upper lows to our E in LA and to our S in the GOM. Already seeing some showers scattered across the area and increasing CU field as well.

ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO AFFECT SOUTHEAST TEXAS.
AVERAGE TEMPERATURES ARE NOT QUITE AS WARM AS LAST JUNE BUT
CONTINUE TO AVERAGE 2 TO 3 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE 30 YEAR
CLIMATOLOGICAL AVERAGES. IN PARTICULAR...MINIMUM TEMPERATURES HAVE
BEEN QUITE WARM AS OF LATE WITH LOW TEMPERATURES BARELY FALLING
BELOW 80 DEGREES.

MINOR DROUGHT CONDITIONS CONTINUE TO AFFECT PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST
TEXAS. THERE IS NO PATTERN TO THE RAINFALL THIS YEAR AS RAINFALL
TOTALS VARY GREATLY BETWEEN NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES. 2010 RAINFALL
AT HOBBY AIRPORT IS ONLY 13.31 INCHES WHILE NEAR BY AT
SUGARLAND...THE 2010 RAINFALL IS 20.85 INCHES. HUNTSVILLE HAS
RECEIVED 8.49 INCHES OF RAIN THIS YEAR...YET COLLEGE STATION HAS
RECEIVED 19.06 INCHES OF RAIN. ARE WE IN A DROUGHT? PROBABLY YES
IF YOU LIVE IN HUNTSVILLE AND PROBABLY NOT IF YOU LIVE IN COLLEGE
STATION.

A WEAK DISTURBANCE MOVING INTO SOUTHEAST TEXAS WILL BRING A SLIGHT
CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE REGION TODAY AND AGAIN
WEDNESDAY. LOOKING FURTHER AHEAD...UPPER LEVEL RIDGING WILL EXPAND
OVER TEXAS BRINGING A CONTINUATION OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES
AND AN EXTENDED DRY PERIOD THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.

Needless to say those thunderstorms have since very much decreased in intensity and some have even disintegrated altogether.

It is apparently 98 degrees at the most accurate climate site in the country while all other climate sites around the area are a good 4 to 5 degrees cooler... Yay for accurate statistics!

we got caught in that nasty little cell near conroe yesterday evening. almost had to pull over during the torrential downpour.

the weather in galveston was nice today, as could be expected. apart from the seaweed, the scene was near perfect: temps around 90F with the water temp nearing bathwater territory.

Upper air high sitting over TX this morning with activity ringing the ridge over W TX, the northern plains, and across the eastern Gulf states.



This ridge that provided the 99 yesterday afternoon at IAH will shift northward over the next 48 hours and flatten allowing a deeper easterly flow to develop through the air column. Activity over Louisiana will begin to spread closer to SE TX each afternoon while aloft subsidence weakens and moisture increases providing a better chance of LA convection making it into our area and storms possibly going up along the seabreeze. Models show a couple of vorts in the E/NE flow aloft that could/may enhance thunderstorms on Wednesday…so with hit this day with the highest rain chances of 30-40%.



Upper high remains just to the north and builds ESE this weekend allowing a continued moist flow into the region from the Gulf of Mexico. Daily seabreeze chances will be had each afternoon….which is good since IAH is now running over 7.0 inches below normal in the rainfall department for 2010.

In case any of you care, there is a rather impressive and healthy Bow Echo thunderstorm west-northwest of the city of Beaumont moving southwest.

What has the radar found in that thundestorm srainhoutx or wxdata? Any strong wind gusts/hail?

No advisories from LCH concerning that storm at this time sleet. We do have some development along the seabreeze in NW Harris County. We need rain, but not all at once.
