Well, that woke me up! Crazy lightning, wind, and rain in Cypress! 1.66" so far and still pouring.

yrs, rained so hard the storm gutters were overflowing, couldn't handle it even with water gushing out the down spouts, kept it up for quite a while

Uugh...so much for a good nights sleep. These storms are dropping heavy rainfalll where 6-7 inches of amounts fell yesterday. The Cypress Creek watershed is getting hit hard again. So much for all those creeks falling back into their banks.

Yeah, my rain gauge is approaching 9.25"(and counting) since this started on Monday. At least I won't have to run the sprinkler system for a while.

What a storm. Constant lightning, torrential downpour, and gusty winds.
The lightning reminds me of a supercell. Just steady flickering every second.

Flash Flood Warning issued. I picked up over 3 inches of rain with that storm bringing my storm total to near 10 inches...so far.

yep i am awake now! wow rush hour is going to be a nightmare! thunder lightning and torrential rain and the main line isnt even here yet!

That upper low has stalled over the ArkLaTex area. Additional short waves rotating beneath that feature may provide more storm chances later today. There is growing concern that as the system becomes a bit more warm cored as it meanders near the Texas/Louisiana Border tonight, core rains may develop. HGX is considering extending the Flash Flood Watch beyond 7:00 AM due to increasing chances of additional flooding rains into Friday.

It just won't stop!!!!!! We have been experiencing torrential downpours now for over an hour here in Sugar Land at Hwy 6 and Settler's Way!!!! My backyard is now a lake. Needless to say this is the real deal!!!!!

Man, what a storm here in Pasadena. Haven't seen a lightning show like that in quite some time. Streets briefly flooded my neighborhood. Rain has slacked off though so they are draining pretty quickly. I've gotten reports that Beltway and 290 has high water this morning. Also SW Freeway off of Beechnut.

Fortunately, this storm came through before 5am as it is now exiting the area. Rush hour will still be slow, but people won't be driving in weather like yesterday. So that is certainly good to know.

Srain, Flash Flood Watch has been extended till Noon today as of now.

Wow, I'm awake now! It just very loud here south of Alvin! Heavy rain, some wind and lots of lightening. Been a long time since I've seen a storm this intense.

Significant street flooding in progress over large portions of Harris County.

 

Rainfall rates of 1.5-2.5 inches in less than an hour across much of the county has led to deep street flooding and rapid rises on area watersheds.

 

Based on media photos water may be close to some homes from street flooding in the Spring Branch area

 

Morning Rainfall:

Storm total now up to 3.05" A line of strong to severe thunderstorms pushed through Houston metro early this morning with rainfall rates of 3" per hour and very vivid continuos sheet lightening. I was surprised we had very little wind with bowing structure visible on radar. Flash Flood Watch to continue this morning and may be extended should additional development occur. Timing of re-development will be very tough to call with leftover boundaries from previous storms and weak shortwaves rotating around the upper level low. I will be watching as Srain stated about the potential for the low to become warm core and push back toward SE TX during the next few days.

NWS has issued an urban flood advisory for Harris County until 900am

Excessive rainfall this morning has resulted in widespread street flooding which is still draining at this time. An additional small line of brief heavy rainfall has developed and is moving into western Harris County and will produce between .25 and .50 of an inch.

Most of the street flooding is subsiding at this time, but some locations remain impassable.

Flood Warnings:

Lower South Madye Creek (overbanks)

Upper Little Cypress Creek (overbanks)

Cypress Creek from SH 249 to I-45 (nearing bankfull)

West Fork of San Jacinto River at US 59 (at bankfull) House flooding begins in another 2.0 feet. Working on forecast with RFC and NWS

No house flooding has been reported

Morning water vapor imagery clearly shows the upper low has stalled and is filling in. Now we need to monitor if in fact it does start sliding S and taking on warm core characteristics.

THESE STORMS HAS PRODUCED FLOODING ON THE SAN JACINTO WATERSHED IN
NORTHEAST HARRIS COUNTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
