Monday Moanin.....
Clutch city has a new term this morning as we are under Mother Nature's clutches.
Tornado Warning & Flash Flood Warnings went along with my coffee early this am.
PLEASE be weather aware today - our ground is already saturated and we don't need much more.
Stay safe and weather aware:
The National Weather Service (NWS) and Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) are saying that the potential for Flash Flooding exists throughout the Houston area today due to a combination of new, strong thunderstorms and saturated ground from last week's rain.
The City of Houston is under a Flash Flood Watch until 4pm. This means conditions exist which may result in Flash Flooding.
Areas that receive heavy amounts of rain in a short period of time, as well as places downstream from those areas are at risk of Flash Flooding. Flash floods are very dangerous situations that immediately threaten your life.
Protective Actions
Residents should take steps to limit their risk by making sure that they avoid streams, bayous, ditches, creeks and low-lying areas today while the threat continues.
In addition, pay attention to local media such as KHOU, this forum, or official Emergency Social Media Channels for information. If you have a weather radio, switch it to "Alert" mode.
Remember, it only take a couple of inches of moving water to sweep away a vehicle. Remember to Turn Around, Don't Drown®.
Information Resources
Check weather conditions with the National Weather Service at weather.gov/houston
Check rainfall totals at the Harris County Flood Warning System at harriscountyfws.org
Information on power outages is available from CenterPointEnergy.com
Emergency Information is always available from the City of Houston at houstontx.gov/emergency

With our incoming bad weather this Memorial Weekend
please make a note of this voluntary evacuation:
IF YOU LIVE in the following subdivisions the Montgomery County Judge has ordered a VOLUNTEER EVACUATION: Pelican Bay, Lakeside Place, Point Aquarius, Lake Conroe Hills, Walnut Cove, Lake Conroe Bay, Shadow Bay, Country Run, Enchanted Waters, and Bishop’s Landing. There is a shelter opened by the RED CROSS at LONE STAR COLLEGE - Montgomery Campus. Progress is being made at the LEWIS DAM but due to the incoming weather they are worried about a breach. Please pass this information along to those you know in this area. If the situation becomes worse the Judge will order a mandatory evacuation: Please make sure you have everything you need if you have to leave. Please see the link below:

so I was right, Texas pirate. Widespread and extensive outages ARE likely due to this weather. Say it ain't so, okay?

I know over a week ago, my area was inundated with flooding -I live near the Webster area- 11 inches of that liquid gold! Luckily, the lights stayed on...however I did have friends in Montgomery County who lost power. So, it is "widespread" meaning, certain areas...as you know Houston is one big area! So yes you are correct, sir! Hope you're ready for this go round and I hope you stay safe and with power!!!

I am hoping everyone made it through the historic flooding safely.
Nice rehearsal huh?
And, ironically this week is HURRICANE PREPARDNESS WEEK.
For those who live on Galveston Island - take a moment and fill this important paperwork out.
IF you need transportation off the island and have no support group to help you - you will need to
fill this out and send it back....BEFORE something gets into the GOM.
I think this historic flood woke a lot of people up. Things can change rapidly.
Please share this link with those you care about:

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
918 PM CDT THU MAY 28 2015
.DISCUSSION...
AT 9 PM...A SOLID LINE OF STRONG/SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OFF TO OUR NORTHWEST
CONTINUES TO MARCH TOWARD THE EAST AND SOUTHEAST. THIS LINE SHOULD WEAKEN
AS IT APPROACHES OUR NORTH AND NORTHWEST COUNTIES AFTER MIDNIGHT...BUT
IT COULD STILL BE CAPABLE OF DUMPING SOME BRIEF HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS
PARTS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS AS IT TRIES TO MAKE PROGRESS TOWARD THE COAST.
DUE TO ITS CURRENT SPEED AND EXPECTED WEAKENING TREND...WILL HOLD OFF
ON ISSUING A FLASH FLOOD WATCH WITH THE EXPECTATION OF RAINFALL TOTALS
PEAKING UNDER ONE INCH. IF THE COMPLEX DOES NOT MAKE IT OFF THE COAST...
WE COULD BE SETTING THE STAGE FOR POSSIBLE TRAINING ACTIVITY SOMEWHERE
IN OUR AREA LATE TONIGHT AND ON INTO TOMORROW RESULTING IN SEVERAL INCHES
OF RAIN AND AN INCREASING FLOOD THREAT DUE TO THE SATURATED GROUNDS.
FOR THE UPDATE...WENT AHEAD AND RAISED EVERYONE`S RAIN CHANCES A GOOD
10% TO 20% FOR THE OVERNIGHT HOURS RESULTING IN LIKELY POPS NORTHWEST
AND CHANCE POPS AT THE COAST. FUTURE FORECAST UPDATES ARE GOING TO DEPEND
HOW EVERYTHING UNFOLDS OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. 42

Thank you, Paul
Poor Dallas this morning -water rescues and everything.
Also, Austin.
I don't know who made Mother Nature angry, but I'd like to find that person
This weekend Saturday night into Sunday, may be another heavy weather situation with flooding.
As if, we need another drop.
Stay tuned and thanks for the heads up!

Here is some important information concerning EVACAUATION for the Galveston/Houston area.
Please book mark this and share with others.
Remember, we evacuate by zip codes.
Galveston goes FIRST.
This will avoid the Rita evacuation disaster - we have certainly learned much from that.
Please locate your zip code and know your evacuation route. If you do this today, you wont panic tomorrow.

It was a wonderful time today at the George R. Brown Hurricane Expo.
A great turnout in 90 degree weather!!!
The Commission for People with Disabilities and
Mayors Office for People with Disabilities had plenty of information for our
disability community. It was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
I also had the pleasure of seeing David Paul, Dan Reilly (HGX NWS) and Rick Knabb (Director, NHC) and his son.
A good time was had by all and of course meeting up with the wonderful friends from this forum really made it a special day, indeed.
In the next couple of weeks, I will be in Baicliff, San Leon and La Marque - tis the season.
Keep your eyes on the GOM..there may be something a'brewing...it is that time of year, folks.
Stay safe and weather aware -

Happy Monday
A lovely June morning but lets keep an eye on the Gulf of Mexico this week, my friends
Latest discussion from the National Hurricane Center:
Shower activity is showing some signs of organization in association
with a broad area of low pressure centered several hundred miles
south of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Upper-level winds are expected to
be conducive, and a tropical depression is likely to form in a few
days while this system moves slowly northwestward or northward.* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent

No matter what 94E may do, we're prepared for come what may.
It's the wait and watch situation right now.
AND...of course the models are duking it out.

As we go into the weekend (June 14 and 15th) please be weather aware
We have the potential for heavy rains and possibly flooding again...yes, again!
Monday may even bring more rains with it....
Be safe and aware.
Here is the discussion from our Houston Galveston NWS: Please read and lets watch out for each other
RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE TRICKY. USING US 59 AS OUR DIVIDER
BETWEEN THE HAVE AND HAVE NOTS OF RAINFALL...THINK NORTHWEST OF US
59 WILL LIKELY SEE 1-2 INCHES OF RAIN THROUGH MONDAY. SOUTHEAST OF
THERE LOOKS LIKE 2-4 MAYBE AN ISO 6 ESPECIALLY CLOSER TO WHERE THE
MOISTURE AXIS SETS UP OVER E TX. RAINFALL RATES IN INDIVIDUAL
STORMS WILL VARY AND HARD TO GET A GRASP UPON WITH PRECIP WATER
VALUES INCREASING TO 2.2 INCHES OVER THE WEEKEND. THE GFS REALLY
HITS MONDAY HARDER WITH PRECIP WATER VALUES 2.3 INCHES ALONG THE
COAST AND DEVELOPING QUITE A BIT MORE PRECIP THAN THE PREVIOUS
DAYS. RIGHT NOW LOOKS LIKE SINCE GROUNDS HAVE DRIED QUITE A BIT IT
WILL TAKE A GOOD 4-6 INCHES OF RAIN IN 3 HRS TO GET FLASH FLOODING
ACROSS THE AREA. THE AREA MIGHT COULD HANDLE THAT FRI/SAT/SUN BUT
MAY NEED TO KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR A FLASH FLOOD WATCH SUN GOING INTO
MON IF RAINFALL AMOUNTS MATERIALIZE. WATCH MAY EVEN BE LIMITED TO
SOUTHERN HALF OF THE FORECAST AREA.

Hello Friends
Well, I'M sure you've heard by now that after our weekend rain event,
something could be forming and getting in to the Gulf of Mexico and headed to us
by mid week.
It could be a tropical depression or tropical storm.
In any event, it's time to pull out the plan and talk to your family about staying safe.
Do you have a plan in case your house floods? Do you have food and water to carry you through a couple
of days in case you can't get out?
is your important papers in one place in case you want to leave due to your home flooding?
Not saying your home will flood - but we need to really be weather aware this coming week.
Stay safe and weather aware.

We can stress and guess until the cows come home at this point.
Whether its rain with a name or no name, we are going to get mighty wet around these parts.
The important thing is to be prepared.
Continue to monitor the weather, as you are doing.
Listen to our NWS - they are the best of the best and our mets both on KHOU and on our pros on the forum.
Hang in there...
