Wow! Everybody, look out tonight through Monday night for some very wet conditions. After that, we look to the weekend. Very anxious for Wednesday to get here to see how it looks then.

Biked down for the implosion this morning. Got there 9:30 and had a front row view for the blast at 11:15. Saw ourselves on Channel 2's footage of the explosion. We were in the background of the shot of the building falling. Got a video of it.
As for the weather, just a bit of rain in the next 24-30 hrs. Nothing but rain - tomorrow and next Friday, if there is ANY precip at all with that system. Only the Canadian has any precip here next Fri/Sat, and it has air too warm for anything but rain.

My Mom said she hoped they saved the mural, wxman57. I have great memories of that building and the long gone Shamrock Hotel, out in the middle of no where at that time...~sigh~
And they did!
A $4 million ranch life mural by artist Peter Hurd, called “The Future Belongs To Those Who Prepare for It,” was removed from the building and will be part of a public library in Artesia, N.M.

I had a nice shower this afternoon and got a quick .40". It was a nice way to start the event

Let the rain begin.

I saw the video of the Prudential Building being demolished. Left a large dust cloud.wxman57 wrote:Biked down for the implosion this morning. According to accuweather, myforecast, and Larry Cosgrove, we could see a low of 30-32 for Friday AND Saturday ....no precip in their forecasts though.
I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT JUST PERFECT IN TERMS OF US GETTING SOME SNOW, PLEASE... *in my Arizona voice*

A little dusting would be good enough
I wouldnt but too much faith in Twister and their snow fall map. We are in mid Jan now and so far we havent even sniffed a hard freeze. 6 weeks from now it will be all over as we head into March. Plus you add in that the snow pack is non-existant to the north any air cold enough will modify a great deal. Case in point my neighbors just got back from Tahoe to ski....well there was absolutely no snow in JAN to ski on. Unheard of for Tahoe this time of year. Especially at that elevation.
the only positive side of this is I see Fairbanks -30 below in Alaska. Some cold air pooling up but according to the GFS the brunt will slide east in the coming 7 days....
sorry for the bad new.....going back under rock now....

I see those flashes of lightning from Sugarland ..... this is only the beginning of this event ...... would appear this system has quite a bit of energy and moisture to work with .... gonna be an interesting rest of the night into Monday.
