So what does that mean - it will keep Hermine over water a little longer?

It certainly could stay over water longer. Let's see if this is a trend or a eye wobble. Edit to add RECON has departed.

There were two missions planned. I'm not sure if the second plane was moved up though with the trouble earlier...

Radar supports this north to NNE movement. I wanted to point that out earlier, but...

Interesting!!!

Looks like a wobble...BRO radar appears that wobble may be heading back N/W

I would say that radar (wundermap) look to be showing landfall within the next hour or sooner near El Rabon, MX.

Correct. Pretty much right on track.

840 PM CDT MON SEP 06 2010

...HERMINE MAKES LANDFALL IN EXTREME NORTHEASTERN MEXICO...

DATA FROM THE NOAA DOPPLER RADAR IN BROWNSVILLE TEXAS INDICATE THAT
TROPICAL STORM HERMINE MADE LANDFALL AROUND 830 PM CDT...0130 UTC
...ALONG THE COAST OF NORTHEASTERN MEXICO ABOUT 40 MILES...65 KM
...SOUTH OF BROWNSVILLE TEXAS. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS AT LANDFALL
WERE ESTIMATED TO BE 65 MPH...100 KM/HR.

This was it. Just glad they got the other flight up and going after the earlier problems otherwise we wouldn't have had any recon data.

I wish that the GRIP project was running missions into this one as it was perfect for what they are researching. Instead they were flying ex Gaston.

So, I have heard/read about systems "riding" the coast... could this be one of them ??

It finaly got that push inland. Radar clearly shows it moving north and west now. Now it's all about the rain. Meanwhile, we wait to see what Gaston will do over the coming days.

Looks like the rain is over with for now for the Houston area. Landfall has occured - now to see how far east the rain comes and how far north Hermine heads. Hopefully all the areas that need rain will get their fair share to relieve drought conditions.

Looks like it will keep pushing NNW/NW into South Texas. It isn't uncommon to see a few odd 'wobbles' with a developing eye like Hermine had. It just comes across as being more pronounced when it's so close to landfall such as this one.

NHC had the track right earlier this morning with the change at the 4 am package.

Sorry I didn't get back to you guys with rainfall projections. I've had off and on computer problems today, and also when I made that double-nested run, the model didn't produce any rainfall anywhere, not even in Hermine which caused it to remain as a loose low wobbling around with no precip processes. I've never seen that before and have no idea what caused it. :?

Not surprising. Your computer has been cursed with all that NAM talk you were typing earlier. It obviously has migrated into your hard drive.

Haha. I should have known better than to stick up for that thing. Although, still seems it had the right idea of a tighter and stronger system compared to the globals yesterday. ;)
