But as long as we have the Canadian and the 9Z SREFs, there is always hope.
Just saw Steve's, QPF under a tenth verbatim...
Over a tenth at Conroe...

Hmm is it more or less on the 12z euro?
What qualifications do you have to judge who the voice of reason is? Are you a pro met or just speculating?SOFTBALLDAD wrote:Ed Mahmoud wrote:12Z Euro even drier than the American models.

Remember Ed...and I am not sure Softballdad knows this, that is liquid form. Translated into snow is at least 1 inch if not higher.
I just love panic mode on the forum
It just wouldn't be a fun event without panic mode

Just let the dog out before heading to work and saw just a few flakes drift by. Not much by any stretch, but a sign that the clouds are lowering and moisture continues to climb.

Museum of Natural Science will close at 3pm due to inclement weather.
I can confirm that it is definately cloudy where I'm at....

Steve (srain), I am from the McAllen/Brownsville area, but my parents live just NW of CRP. We are getting freezing rain/sleet in the lower valley (i.e., Harlingen/Brownsville). I have gotten occassional frozen drizzle in the McAllen area. My parents have not seen anything, but they are working indoors so I wouldn't put too much stock in their reports.
The 12z European has increased McAllen's QPF to 0.07-0.08 (last night it was at 0.04-0.05). In addition, the European is forecasting 0.20-0.23 QPF for BRO, while CRP and IAH are forecasted to receive 0.10 (down from the 0z run). Almost on cue, the NWS in BRO upped our precipitation chances in McAllen from 50 to 60 percent, and went from snow/sleet to all snow (accumulations of less than 1/2 inch).
Hope that helps.

I am confuzzled with all of the early closures this afternoon The main event won't begin until late tonight.
"University of Houston System has canceled today’s classes beginning at 2:30 p.m. or later at all of its campuses, including UH-Clear Lake, UHCL Pearland Campus and other UHCL off-campus facilities. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Thursday also are canceled. Officials made the decision after monitoring weather reports that indicate continuing freezing conditions and the prediction of snow and sleet this evening and early Friday."
No classes tonight for me.

Just got a text from a friend - that drove down Hwy 146 at Hwy 225 icy spots over the road (which is elevated). Its starting folks.

Edit: I always post a few seconds after someone and stuck on the top of a new page. Like 5 times now. lol.

If anyone has kids in Clear Creek ISD, it appears school cancelled tomorrow. My daughter just sent me a "Yippee, you were right Dad" text...

I know what you mean! My job closes today at 3p so no work for me today. At least it's paid time off for 8 hrs! I would have rather worked today and off tmw. It's dry as a bone now.Mr. T wrote:I am confuzzled with all of the early closures this afternoon The main event won't begin until late tonight.
As for the forecast "busting" already? Really??? The upper low/dynamics for lift are still way out in Big Bend west TX. It has to come closer for precip to start developing and it won't be till tonight before it begins. The stuff now is just from the upper jet passing overhead.
