Great graphic from NWS Houston/Galveston regarding the impact of this weeks rainfall on areas that sorely needed it.

Did this week's rainfall make a dent in drought conditions? Well, sort of. Here is a look where. #houwx #bcswx #txwx

These flash droughts every year - even in "wet" years - are taking a toll on the trees.

After the first week in August, the GFS is sniffing some weakness in the ridge again. Receptive to any tropical waves or lemons?

Hoping we catch a break this year. CLL was just north of 1 in+ rains with the recent set of disturbances...fingers crossed for a wetter than normal August.

Three years ago due to the long term drought I started to put non-ornamental trees (red oak, live oak, etc) on a program with monthly applications of Miracle Grow, Superthrive, Medina vitamins, as well as alternating gypsum and sulfur pellets and fertilizer with 2% iron. Watering 2 X week with 5 gal buckets + sprinkler. It's made a huge difference. Trees were dropping like flies before adding the program.

Such tiny, puny little cells....and yet such ginormous outflow boundaries clearing everything out...

Scattered tropical downpours in all directions with sun overhead all day and then late yesterday afternoon an outflow boundary unleashed a tropical downpour on the yard. 0.69" in a little over 15 minutes.
