February 2021: Arctic Outbreak/Warmup Begins
They sure are all in on the "don't drip your pipes" message. This is the first time in 40 years I've heard that. I'm on a well so I'm dripping away. Houston can do their own thing.
Just got a gut feeling we arent going to get much out of this down this way.

I dont know what to believe anymore. One camp has the deep freeze staying in place until Friday and another winter system Wed/Thurs. The other camps has it drastically warming on Wednesday so this is a one and done.

Another ice storm
Wow, I can’t believe Houston is pushing the no faucet dripping message. That is pretty much a top recommendation across the board aside from wrapping pipes.
In any case I’m not on City of Houston water so I’m dripping (and still would even if I was on city water).

00Z models below. None is showing significant freezing rain here in Harris County (Houston). It's north and south of us? GFS has 6-7" snow, Euro has 1-2". Model consensus is that Houston will reach 5-8F on Tuesday. All-time record is 5F. What I don't buy is the warm-up to above freezing the next day (Wednesday). With all that ice on the ground, I think the temperature won't climb above freezing. If that's the case, the stage is set for a significant ice storm across SE TX on Wednesday. Generator is ready to go. Lots of gas. Shutting off water this evening.
Because it drops the water pressure the fire department will have a hard time fighting fires with low water pressureTx2005 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:36 am Wow, I can’t believe Houston is pushing the no faucet dripping message. Seeing forecasts of less than 0.25 inch of ice and less than 0.3 inches of snow forecast in my area. So lame....
We use more water in the summer watering lawns up here.Karen wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:39 amBecause it drops the water pressure the fire department will have a hard time fighting fires with low water pressureTx2005 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:36 am Wow, I can’t believe Houston is pushing the no faucet dripping message. Dripping away for me. Blasting every 30 min for a few seconds Monday and Tuesday.

It's a winter storm warning not a snow warning. Precip forecast has been trending up from last night.Kingwood36 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:46 amI'm in the same boat..almost like why bother putting us in a warning lol just cut the Coastal counties off
People worried about their refrigerated foods expiring during a power outage didn't stop to think they have a free cooler outside. Just pop your items in a cooler with the lid open and set outside if you have to.
Rosharon area.
