I strongly agree with the disagreement. I remember an old board member, on S2K and here called for a Season Cancel ( I wont call him out..LOL) before....Ike...well, we know what happened there. There have been September hurricanes that have caused havok ( Ike, 1900 Storm, 1941 Hurricane). Never let your guard down.

And Hurricane Carla hit in September 1961.

I’m all about getting a storm here I like the rush and fun to track just a gut feeling

12z Euro ensemble members arent too excited with 91L, but FWIW the few members that do develop 91L are on the stronger side

Well two days in a row now the storms missed me by hair. I actually need some rain as it’s getting really dry around the neighborhood. The non-irrigated lawns are starting to look really bad/brown too.

Imo Carla was the last real storm to hit all of our area. Alicia and Ike didn’t do much to the western half of the viewing area.

Imo Carla was the last real storm to hit all of our area. Alicia and Ike didn’t do much to the western half of the viewing area.

Carla was a bad one. Went in at Port Lavaca and took out my cousin's barns in Vanderbilt. Homes all around them blown off their foundations. Homes in Galveston destroyed by tornadoes. Homes in Texas City and La Marque (where I was from) flooded from storm surge. Three families of cousins living in our home because theirs were under water. At least they still had a home to clean up. Carla skirted the coast and damaged everywhere she touched.

Yeah, my parents tell me stories about Carla all the time. Very fascinating stuff!

And Sept brings back Rita 2005 memories. Growing up in Pearland I always remember my parents talking about the 1961 Carla evacuation. As a kid I was always concerned about another major hurricane making landfall between Matagorda Bay and San Luis Pass. Thought Rita was the one but we were fortunate. IKE 2008 was another scare. Ready to make it past Sept and glad no tropical threats for Labor Day weekend. Not expecting much from Invest 91L.

18z GEFS ensembles are a little more aggressive with 91L, not a super strong signal but its definitely more than what it was in previous runs FWIW

Have fun. I hope to make a game sometime later this year if I can arrange it around work.

Nothing says we can't get a rogue early cold front in September, but they don't roll through like clockwork until November usually. I never start feeling comfortable until October.

Models and their ensemble packages are all a little more robust with the idea of tropical development in the west or northwest Gulf late this weekend or next week. But, steering is going to be complicated if something does development. Development location will, once again, be one of a couple factors that determine if it is pulled northeast by an approaching trough (central, northeast Gulf impact) or sits over the Gulf for a bit then is shunted westward (into Texas) as ridging tries to build just south of the trough.

All this, IF something develops.

Must say the system that spawned 91l has become 'mildly' more interesting for the first time in a few weeks. Although it would likely have to miss the aforementioned trough to pose a threat to our neck of the woods.

A more active pattern in general, too, with another wave to watch taking a similar trek days 9-11 or so.

Yeah it's definitely been one of the stranger setups I can remember in awhile. These hybrid/pseudo cag type of systems that get kick-started by an incoming wave is usually a phantom but the gfs has been doing a pretty good job sniffing out the potential.
