Why is there no ice or sleet or freezing rain on that map? Is that saying the gden triangle is just rain/snow?

Tropical tidbits doesn't show sleet or freezing rain..whatever shows as rain is frozen with Temps in 20s

It’s crazy to me that it’s freezing in Alice and Hebbronville and not here. But the cold is definitely draining down into Texas now. Just a bit more of a SE nudge and we will be in it too for the duration.

Here is our current local forecast. If this is the case I dont think we are in any danger of anything.

I dont trust phone weather apps. They are very unreliable snowman65. I always go to NWS for our forecast and it shows very different than your phone app. Plus Im sure what we get in Beaumont will be what you get in orange.

Snowman65. See...In orange will get what we get in Beaumont. Very diff than what your app says. Also shows ice/mix for Wednesday in Orange. Temps are much colder than your app. Always trust NWS map.

What website? Cause they are way off. Looks like weather channel or accuweather or something like that who is not local and do not focus and breakdown models for our area. A lot of those sites are automated too which does not go in depth for anyone’s specific area.

I have some attic questions. My hot water heater is up there. Thankfully the pipes coming out are insulted outside of a small section where the pipes are routed 90 degrees down to go into the walls.

1.) Anything I should do with the water heater? Any sort of water heater cover is sold out.

2.) Should I attempt to cover those small open sections of the pipes coming from the water heater with towels? Insulation is all sold out.

3.) My attic is in the garage. Should I keep the ladder down? It’s slightly warmer in the garage but not much. Not sure if this will help or not.

Thanks all. Pretty worried about a leak so I appreciate any help or suggestions.

Good morning. I've completed most of my prep, but now have a couple of questions if anyone would like to reply. I live in a rural area and my home's sewer system is an aerobic system. I am a widow and not really familiar with it. Should I throw the electrical breaker to it to prevent the sprinklers from activating? And if so, should I then wrap the sprinkler heads? For my water well, I have wrapped the tank with blankets, covered that with a tarp, and then ran an electric cord from the barn for a drop light under the tarp. Should that be enough? What if I lose power? Should I then open all the faucets in the house to drain the tank? If it makes any difference, my home is pier and beam, somewhat perched on the side of a hill. Front of house is about 2 feet above ground with back of house about 10 feet above ground, with decks dropping down to ground level. The back of the house faces North. Pex pipings under the house. TIA!!

12z GFS trended in a good direction for snow in Houston. Hopefully the south trend continues!

Models are coming in even colder, probably partly due to them seeing higher accumulations of ice/snow on the ground.
