I don't know...It was graupelling pretty good when I was running the ATV around taking care of the plants and pipes, but I wouldn't trade that for heat and humidity.Texaspirate11 wrote:i miss summer.
already.
On another note - this is what I think of regarding an El Nino winter: upper level moisture from the Pacific over running cold Arctic blasts. That seems to be the usual way for Houston to get frozen precip.

Yes!!! Finally seeing snowflakes at the farm! Not exactly whiteout conditions, but a nice surprise nonetheless.

Update from Jeff:
Light sleet and snow progressing now generally east of a line from Liberty to Pasadena to Liberty.
KIAH did report about 12 minutes of sleet and snow around 1000am this morning and based on these observations…this will become the earliest reported snow/sleet in the record of the City of Houston…so a fairly rare event.
Given continued cold air advection and cloud cover along with the effects of the morning wet bulb due to the falling precipitation, most area will only reach the mid 40’s for highs today.
Widespread freeze remains likely for most areas tonight except the immediate coast.

Hobby Airport also reported light snow in their observations. Records set at Bush and Hobby for the earliest snowfall (trace) in Houston.
