Jim Cantore just said Alex will be upgraded to a hurricane on the next update from NHC.

Have not experienced rain here yet but I will say the air is very tropical....balmy... We had a very dark ominous band come through earlier that delivered mostly gusty winds...

Now that Alex will be upgraded soon to hurricane status, I wonder if he will slow down and get stronger or stay a cat 1...

Soooo...where *is* that band going to end up? Corpus? Galveston? Houston?

Power out...yikes....I will never forget the moment our power went out during Ike.....And how long that night was with nothing to keep your mind occupied other than listening to that wind howl and things hitting the plywood...I feel so bad for those guys...They are in for a very long night....

It looks to me like Louisiana will get more rain than us. Am I wrong? It seems like the heaviest bands are going to LA

Well, with my exit from this forum, I must say that this has been one of the most difficult storms to predict. The models were all over the place for days, as were conditions that would manipulate him. In the end, we have come full circle to the first suggested landing. Alex had many opportunities to go elsewhere, one being S.E. Texas at one point or another. Thank God that did not happen.

He will be inland soon. Many will get lots of rain, some way too much. So we wait for the next one. I've tried hard to help folks stay in one piece over the years, but I don't feel a part of anything here anymore. I'll be lurking now and again, but there will be no posts during the remainder of this hurricane season.

Just registered for the new board. I've mainly been a lurker in the past but I've posted a few times.
There are some pretty heavy showers to the South of Houston around Angleton right now.
The lastest IR imagery of Alex is awesome looking.
