I have yet to see any rain in my part of town. It has been breezy with clouds with occasional sun...I hope to see some rain, ground getting cracks...But perhaps too far east for the feeders to make it......

I agree. Nobody really knows what this thing is going to do and we are all concerned about it or we wouldn't be reading this forum. Oh that's right. Beat up on old BB day. I've been up all night watching this for you people. The fact of the matter is, the models have been wrong about Alex all along, they continue to be wrong today, and they will not catch up on the reality of things until the final day or two. It is classic behavior. I have the experience and the history with this sort of thing, and I've been a member of this forum for years. I'm glad you all have become much more worthy than I, hence the lack of appreciation for what I'm trying to do for you. Just don't get upset when you did not prepare because you just didn't think you needed to.
Lastly, I never said the "sky was falling". You got a dose of what Alex is doing this morning, vs. what you were told he would be doing when you all went to bed last night. Your lack of appeciation is astonishing. All of you.

Wow! Excuse me, I had no idea my comment would offend you so much! I am sorry. I just made a simple comment that was nothing personal. I wasn't trying to "beat up" on anyone, I was just stating my opinion on the matter. For what it's worth, I've been lurking on this forum for several years as well. Now I know why I just lurk. Guess I'll keep my thoughts to myself from now on! Sheesh!

Few feeder bands moving across South Texas and Brownsville this afternoon. McAllen airport reporting wind gusts to near 50mph in on the the bands.

There were a few runs of the GFDL that were showing a much faster heading and we sort of threw it out as being to fast. Looks like it was on to something and both the HWRF/GFDL have done a great job so far in not showing a more intense system. That's generally the opposite of what has occurred over the years and you can even see how perplexed the NHC has been with both not showing a stronger storm. Still plenty of time for Alex to strengthen some more but the continued dry air it seems to be taking in is limiting his ability to do so. If that can get mixed out we might have a good 90kt cane.
At least the increased speed and harder movement to the left could help my chase bud who is on his way to Mexico so see a daytime landfall instead of at night.

It'll all depend on Alex's rain bands. Training along the coast could quite easily receive 5"+. A little more uncertain for the inland areas.

Dr. Frank on channel 11 just said he thinks Alex is a hurricane. He said reported pressure does support that...

Well, indirectly, Alex has helped give us here in Austin about 2 1/4 inches of rain. Still falling too! Cells moving east to west.

Well I am glad someone is getting rain...I just experienced a 3 minute sideways sprinkle. Whoo hoo. yeah...not exactly what my yard needed but I suppose it could be much worse and I would rather have a dry lawn than no A/C and no roof....
Seems like Alex has chosen his path but I suppose I will stay up and see what happens tonight.

Yes, Alex is almost certainly a hurricane now. Recon should be there shortly to confirm. Probably a Cat 2 at landfall, possibly low-end 3. About average sized though, not the monster that Ike was. TS winds winds only 150nm from the center vs. Ike's 240+. Average size is about 130nm for the TS wind radius.

Baytown received some very much needed rain along with some moderately strong gusts of wind over twenty minutes ago. Frome what I saw on the radar, it looks like southeast Texas could be in for a long night.
