In Dallas' morning AFD, they mention that the Winter Storm Watch may have to go further south...not that this will affect us because our system arrives Thursday. We may need a Winter Storm Watch from Brownsville to Corpus to Houston/Galveston to Lake Charles line by Wed night or Thursday if trends continue.

Oh no, this won't be like 2004 when the coastal counties got nailed and where I live in Montgomery County didn't even see a flurry will it?

I live in Montgomery County and we got light snow at our house. Of course, I'm like 2 miles from Harris County.

No, it was during the evening of February 23rd I believe, austin got a decent snowfall the houston area got about an hour of a sleet snow mix

Question....I am in the Beaumont area and local mets are forecasting our lowest low to be about 24-25 this week. Is there still a possibility that this system is colder than we are assuming? Say lows possible in the teens? JC, Thanks!

Not too many changes with the 12z GFS. The system is a little slower but basically the same outcome. A band of light snow moves across the area on friday... It doesn't close it off like the Euro as it moves across Texas, so not as much precip

Hmm! Be careful, folks. The cold and snow is not here yet. Let's not count our chickens before they hatch and get all disappointed.. No? We are watching both situations. I would not be surprised to find in the end that s.e Texas, proper, ends up with the short stick as we watch areas south, west, and north enjoy most of the fun. I'm speaking of accumulating precip.. This is all still developing, so of course we'll see. Let us also not forget the fact that predicted temps from previous events fell way short.
Today and Tuesday will be good days to finalize winter weather preparations, and good days for our weather services to check themselves. As of today, temps looks to be the coldest yet this season. Precip. forecasts are a bit more unclear. Both are subject to change until all of the players with this event can be nailed down.

I live in Montgomery County and we got light snow at our house. Of course, I'm like 2 miles from Harris County.

I live just south of Lake Conroe Dam. We didn't see a flake. I know because I stood outside all day long straining my eyes looking for a flake. I also had the flash light out late at night look for one too. Talk about hard up!

Could well be similar. Greater moisture is closer to the coast. You may have to head south for snow.

Same here in Porter. I really hope that we don't have that happen with this event. Not that I would not be happy for the folks down south.. Just saying... Many were very, very disappointed then. Maybe we can avoid that this go round. I'd love to see enough to make some nice photos, and to be able to build a snowman. It has been since the 1980s up in Dallas. It's time..

Well, all sort of news in that update. Goodness. We've said this could be an interesting pattern that could produce some surprises.
Thumbnail sketch for those that can not view the video. Cold is coming and hard freeze all the way to Deep S TX. Crop issues there. Storm will be very windy. Lows in the teens and 20's across Houston. Storm approaches on Thursday as surface low develops in the Gulf, 2-4 inches of snow possible in S TX and an inch average across Houston. More cold air heading in next week with additional wintry weather chances in the Deep South.
