Paul here is a link from our HGX NWS with all the details of our upcoming severe weather on Monday.
Seems those in the Northern Counties will more of the punch: just stay aware
But here is the information for you...hope it helps.

But they include Houston in their outlook, though. That means Houston to Winnie gets the punch too, Doesn't it?

Morning Briefing from Jeff:

Tornado Watch in effect until 1100am for the northern 1/3rd of SE TX.

Strong to at times severe squall line extends from NE TX to north of Austin and is moving SE at 25-30mph. Discrete development ahead of the main line which required the issuance of the tornado watch earlier this morning has for the most part ended. Watching very fast moving small cells over Galveston Island and Galveston Bay well ahead of the main squall line and also showers over Waller County for any signs of deeper development and supercell structures given such a highly sheared air mass in place.

Skies are partly cloudy over SE TX currently and this will allow for a period of warming ahead of the main squall line which may help to erode the capping inversion in place and allow a few isolated storms to develop out ahead of the main line. These cells could have a tornado threat, but the best threat is located NE of SE TX. Convective outflow continues to outrun the leading edge of the squall line keeping most of the storms below severe limits thus far this morning. Heating of the air mass south of the line over the next few hours may result in intensification and an increase in the damaging wind threat as the morning progresses. Strong winds just above the surface will be transported toward the surface in the strong downdrafts and this is where wind damage may occur. Wind gust on the leading edge of the line will likely range from 45-55mph with severe gust upwards of 60-65mph possible especially north of I-10 where the strongest storms will track.

Timing of the squall line should be around College Station between 800-900am, Houston metro 1000am-noon, and to the coast between 100-300pm.

Strong cold front over NW TX tied to deep surface cyclone over OK will blast rapidly southward this afternoon and off the coast by early evening. Winds will increase out of the NW 25-30mph and remain elevated and gusty all night especially near the coast. Gust to 40mph will be possible especially over the warm Gulf waters. Temperatures will fall into the 60’s this evening and the 40’s and 50’s overnight and with the gusty winds it will feel significantly colder. Northerly flow continues on Tuesday with highs in the 70’s under sunny skies.

Fire Weather:
Afternoon RH on Tuesday will fall to below 25% over much of the area with NW winds of 10-20mph. Widespread wetting rainfall today should preclude a fire weather concern on Tuesday.

The actual cold front is lagging behind the main line showers and storms back in Central Texas. Storms may begin to organize over SE Texas and a new Severe Weather Watch mat be needed within the hour.

Update from Jeff:

Strong squall line continues to advance across the NW parts of SE TX with discrete cells developing ahead of the main line. Thus far radar has not indicated any significant rotation within the cells developing ahead of the main line across Wharton, Fort Bend, Harris, and Polk Counties. Activity quickly developing over Wharton County appears to be rooted at the surface and this activity may go severe shortly as is transports down some of the strong low level jet energy right off the surface. These storms should mature as they move into Fort Bend and Harris County over the next hour with a wind threat.

Damaging winds to 65mph will be possible along the portion of the squall line over Grimes County into western Montgomery County where leading edge has bowed slightly. Surface observations across the warm sector indicate southerly winds of 25-35mph are mixing down to the surface while behind the squall line NW winds of 25-35mph are common. Temperatures across the squall line range from 84 at Pearland to 60 at Bryan or roughly about a 20 degree temperature fall.

Continued surface heating into the mid 80’s ahead of the line of storms will likely result in a gradual intensification of the activity over the next 1-2 hours with the main threat being wind damage along the leading edge of the squall line. Think the tornado threat from any discrete cells ahead of the main line will be over far SE TX into LA.

We are getting hit with the cold front storm. The winds have really started to gust, small limbs are hitting the ground, temperature is dropping and now it is pouring down rain.

Gusty NW winds are blowing across Central Texas and the Hill Country and should be moving into SE Texas within the next hour or two. I've seen a report or two of wind gusts reaching near 50 mph just N of San Antonio as the storm system deepens across the Southern Plain.

A chilly 54F in NW Harris County this morning. Fall has arrived with flocks of Canadian Geese moving in and also seeing a lot of migratory ducks arriving across the Katy Prairie. Another sure sign that the season is changing. The humming birds have been active at my feeders and new arriving Red Tail Hawks are hunting for prey. Enjoy the pleasant weather this week!
