Deep Blue from IBM was one of the originals for NOAA. Was initially much better at beating Garry Kasparov at chess.snowman65 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 1:00 pmThe company that makes all the computer models, it isn't called Dominion, is it??Kingwood36 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 12:51 pmEuro seems to be out to lunch with this honestly its calling for highs near 50 for the weekend![]()

Models continue to have trouble with the progression of the cold air and when it will come through. With that said, it does look like most of the region will likely see a hard freeze late this weekend or early next week. At this point both the GFS and ECMWF have a shortwave trough lagging behind over Mexico and rolling through on Monday. Slowly, I believe a consensus is forming but there are still details that need to be figured out, especially in regard to any precipitation.

I think you can toss out Euro's timing. It's sucked this week, in general.

Are we expected to be below freezing for a couple of days? Any idea what the lows are?

Does anyone know why certain models cant handle cold air masses diving south? And why do the models temperature forecasts not take into account snowcovered ground? Can the models be reprogrammed?
Still warm and humid in Sterling Ridge.

It never hurts to be over prepared. Thursday or Friday would suck because that is when everyone will be there. Watches could potentially be hoisted on Friday/Saturday.Kingwood36 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 09, 2021 2:18 pm Trying to convince the gf to hold off on going to the store till aboit Friday or Saturday to make sure this is really going to happen lol..she wants to buy all kinds of supplies...lol

We are heading up to Irving Friday morning for the weekend to visit our son. What could we expect way up there this weekend? Thanks!

Still some questions on when the coldest air will sink south but look for the artic air to come down sometime Saturday evening into Sunday morning. You could also see some frozen precipitation with the line so it may be a little hazardous.

Blake says it might be all snow around here...he says the cold air looks to be a bit deeper
"The latest GFS model indicates Wednesday and Thursday are likely to be wet days. Then the cold air moves in which could set the stage for freezing rain, sleet and perhaps even all snow as the cold air looks to be a bit deeper heading into Monday. #KHOU11"
