Welp. There's the building thunderstorms right around the coc. Pretty intense buildup so far.
How much will it expand....
September 2020:
No surprise with the downgrade in winds at 4.
Of note is another change in track and timing. Beta barely makes it onshore and slowly moves just inland up the coast before going across Galveston on Wednesday as a depression.

I just dont see this doing much at all anymore besides some surge issues at the coast. Little to no wind. Maybe a couple inches of rain.
Looks like Beta Is trying to organize its structure again. It will be interesting to see how organize Beta becomes as the storm makes landfall later today. If it can get a good structure before landfall rainfall may be more widespread. But if it becomes disorganized again before landfall rainfall will remain probably mainly scattered in nature. And pulse up and down due to the heating of the day.
Funny how you never hear about how ‘North Carolina ate that hurricane!’ or ‘Florida’s dry air just decimated that storm!’ Seems to be a pretty unique Texas thing

He is looking a little better on satellite this morning
It's actually a little stronger so far on the current recon run than the last part of the previous run.

Pretty interesting to watch the GOES infrared loop from the overnight hours. Beta went from looking like a naked swirl to really getting convection going around 3:00 this morning.

Is the storm surge expected to get any worse? Starting to get a bit uncomfortable here in the Clear Lake area.

Is beta suppose to come ashore tonight?
The rainfall map on the NHC map shows significantly lower totals. Maybe we can get a few inches out of it.
It’s also jogging NW again.

45-50 kt obs on nw pass close to Matagorda Bay. I think the storm is slightly strengthening.
No strengthening, plus satellite presentation is beginning to degrade again.
Pressure is up a mb and is just to the wnw of the last fix.
