Holy Beta, Batman. I am seeing at least a strong tropical storm. Also there is a defined spin dead center that looks as if an eyewall is trying to form.

How is a weaker storm like this able to push that dry air back like that?

Is it because the wind field is so large?

Beta is being fed from the eastern Gulf. Movement west becomes an advantage, because its feed source of moisture remains.

Beta right now looks the best its ever looked. Could become a hurricane if the trend continues.

That west side is beasting, fed from that easterly flow across the northern Gulf. I told folks not to sleep on Beta. It's on a mission.

It's so impressive to see Beta just clear a path through the dry air.

Our weather has swung 180° in the last 20 min in CLL. Thickening clouds. Dewpoint and breeze are picking up. Rainband within 10 miles.

Yes that was a complete 180 degree turn. It was clear/nice then humid and raining within a couple hrs!

looks like it's exploding like new years firework...cat 1, close to 2 before landfall. that's my guess. too much time over open water if you ask me.

Cat 2 seems to be a stretch with everything it has to fight against.

Tonight will be key if additional convection blows up but it has lost a lot of its convection over the last hour.
