" How bout that global warming?"
Seattle and Portland had their warmest January's on record by far, beating the previous records by a good degree or two.

Just putting things in perspective ;) . Where it's unusually cold, it is likely unusually warm somewhere else. Localized events should not be used in the debate for or against global warming. Long term trends are much more important. For the record, I'm against the doom and gloom human induced global warming idea.
Yea I know but most of the time if their is global warming usually record snow amounts and colds would not stream across the nation. I am not saying this disproves anything just thought it was funny to think about it. :D

00Z's should make for an interesting evening for the "night crew". Enjoy yourselves and the new platform.

It is sleeting buckets here in Bryan. I only hope it changes over to all snow and goes throughout the night. Will the sleet cool the atmosphere to allow the all snow transition? Started at 7:45 pm and shows no signs of letting up.

Uh ... not quite. There are some reports of a rain/sleet/snow mush falling in north Austin. I'm in SW Austin and its only cold rain right now.

But yes we had some very bright radar returns just move through the metro area. Radar thinning out quickly to our west. That's probably the end of it.
I just got back from having dinner w/ some friends in Round Rock, there was accumulating sleet on cars, but none of it was snow. Had a very heavy burst while driving there from the 45 tollroad.

Charging camera as we speak. There are now a few snowflakes mixed in. If I can figure out how to upload photos I will.

Now is it snowing! Huge, big, wet flakes. The cars are already covered and rooftops. I sure hope this continues throughout the night! It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I am fixing to try to take some pictures. I am kind of iliterate when it comes to eletronics. Can someone tell me how to get the pictures uploaded?

Some free sites are tinypics and photobucket.

I doubt Houston, or many people will get in the action tonight. Most of the moisture is already past us now so things look pretty bad if you want snow or sleet.

Hearne dropped from 36 to 32 quickly as the snow began to fall there, so it was only a matter of time before it changed in CLL
