Will this cooler/progressive pattern of October continue throughout the month of November?

Also, I will also like to bring everyone's attention to the large disparity of rainfall accumulations across Harris County this year. While most sites are normal or well above normal for the year, there are sites especially in Western Harris Couty that are running well-below normal so far. On the link below, just click on the 'Historical' tab inside the 'Rainfall Data' section and change the 'Days' option to 299 Days or how many days will take you back to January 1, 2019. The map should update accordingly reflecting how much total rainfall has fallen at each site this year...

November has had freezes (1975, 1976, 1991), severe weather (1992, 1993, 2003), flooding (1940, 1943, 1998, 2004) and freezing rain (1976).

Its a pretty wide range of rainfall for sure. I live in the Fairfield part of Cypress and we have definitely missed out on some of the heavier rains. Had some nice rains this past week but we are still 10+ short of normal. My parents live out in western Austin County and they are probably at 10" less than we are for the year. I haven't seen their lake this low since 2011.

Chilly start to November out there this morning. Had frost on my vehicle in Katy. Needed to defrost the windshield a bit before driving to work.

Bush dropped down to 36 while Hobby dropped down to 37. Places to our N and W briefly dipped below freezing. Caldwell dropped down to 29.
What's more surprising is Austin Bergstrom Intl Airport recorded a low of 26 when forecast was 29. Calm winds and clear skies really allowed for a solid freeze for the majority of the state to begin November. Slow warm up begins today but looking like a fantastic fall weekend ahead!

I’m glad you made it back safely! Yeah I would hate that kind of cold too unless I went skiing.

After a chilly and very frosty morning, it’s quite pleasant right now out in the sun. The shade is still a little cold but at least the wind died down. Looks like a very nice weekend ahead.

I hate anything below 50 degrees unless it’s snowing. Cold weather is just miserable. You can’t even function or have fun when you’re in cold because you’re just so focused on how cold you are and trying to stay warm. It’s hard to focus on anything else so how are you supposed to enjoy that? Just my opinion.

The GFS is hinting at a 1050+mb high dropping south out of Canada into Montana unleashing brutal cold straight down the plains and into Texas in about 8 to 9 days from now. It has now showed this in the 0z run and the 12z run. Also has a decent amount of precipitation over the next couple weeks.

Chamber of Commerce weather today. Mostly sunny - near 70°F. Cool at night.

No A/C. No watering. No mowing as the grass is going dormant. I'm happy as the proverbial clam. This is actually my favorite part of the year in Texas...except the sun setting early as Daylight Savings time disappears part!

With El Nino at bey, hope we can avoid days/weeks of drizzle in a row this winter!

GFS now has the colder air sliding to the east. Canadian sticking with a light freeze in the Brazos Valley. We'll see.

Monday afternoon weather briefing from Jeff:

Next strong cold front will move across the area on Thursday afternoon and evening.

Ahead of this front winds have returned to the SE and this has resulted in the ever near Gulf moisture making its return to the area today. Mostly cloudy skies and developing fog will be the main weather tonight into early Tuesday as moisture slowly deepens. Moisture should be deep enough on Tuesday for a few scattered showers and again on Wednesday along an incoming weak and diffuse frontal boundary. Moisture pump begins in earnest late Wednesday into Thursday ahead of a strong frontal passage for late week. Shallow, but cold air mass will arrive in TX late Wednesday and surge southward across SE TX by late Thursday. While instability is generally lacking, pooling moisture along the frontal slope and shallow nature of the front will support a good chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning. Frontal inversion will deepen early Friday helping to end rainfall.

Cold air mass with 1040mb surface high moving down the plains into the weekend will surge into the area late Thursday into Friday. Highs on Friday even with clearing skies will likely only make the low 60’s if that and fall well into the 40’s by Saturday morning…maybe even the upper 30’s again like this past weekend.

Rainfall amounts Thursday afternoon-Friday morning will average .50-.75 of an inch with isolated totals of 1-2 inches.
