No. We are expecting this activity to probably increase a bit as the activity to our SW and West make their way NE and East. Long night ahead.

Can't say. We're in a 'now-casting' mode. Sorry.

Area of covering is expanding while the line remains stationary over NW Houston, NW Harris - from Cotulla to Livingston. Flooding is imminent. Stay indoors, especially as night has fallen. Don't drive on these streets underneath this nearly stationary band.

Aren't those systems different, tropical with circulation vs cold front convergence or does it not matter?

New Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be necessary for Coastal tier of Counties...
05102019 mcd0605.gif
Mesoscale Discussion 0605
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0826 PM CDT Thu May 09 2019

Areas affected...portions of southern Texas to the Upper Texas Coast
vicinity

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 158...159...

Valid 100126Z - 100300Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 158, 159
continues.

SUMMARY...Large hail will continue to be the main concern with
severe convection across parts of southern and southeast TX this
evening. Storms may organize into a bowing line segment later
tonight, increasing the threat for damaging winds.

DISCUSSION...Multiple severe storms producing large hail, some 2
inches or great in diameter, are ongoing this evening along
pre-frontal convergence band and outflow boundaries. Given a very
moist environment and rather weak low level flow, it is expected
that eventually upscale growth should occur and one or more bowing
segments should track toward the coast. Once convection transitions
from the current semi-discrete mode to more linear convection, an
increasing threat for damaging wind will be possible, especially if
an adequate cold pool is generated. Given expected trends, counties
along the Gulf coast in WFOs CRP and HOU may need to be added to
ongoing severe thunderstorm watches 158 and 159. Temporal extension
and/or a new watch may also become necessary and will be addressed
as needed depending on trends over the next couple of hours.

It looks like this cluster is about to form a firm southern flank and then ever so slowly slowly march SE...something to watch for.

No. We are expecting this activity to probably increase a bit as the activity to our SW and West make their way NE and East. Long night ahead.
Will that be the progression of this storm, exiting to our east eventually or are we expecting it to stall out?
